Embedded EngineerLocation: California,Experience: 0–3 yearsEmployment Type: Full-TimeAbout the RoleWe are looking for a motivated Embedded Engineer to join our hardware/firmware team. You'll work on designing, developing, and testing embedded software and systems that power our products — from low-level firmware to hardware-software integration. This role is great for engineers early in their career who are eager to build hands-on expertise in embedded systems.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and debug embedded firmware/software for microcontrollers and embedded processorsWrite and maintain C/C++ code for real-time embedded applicationsInterface with hardware components (sensors, actuators, communication modules) via protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, etc.Support bring-up, testing, and validation of new hardware boardsDebug issues using tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG/SWD debuggersCollaborate with hardware, firmware, and QA teams to define requirements and troubleshoot issuesWrite technical documentation for firmware architecture, test procedures, and design decisionsParticipate in code reviews and follow best practices for embedded software developmentAssist in optimizing code for performance, memory footprint, and power consumptionRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)0–3 years of experience in embedded systems development (internships and academic/personal projects count)Proficiency in C and/or C++ programmingUnderstanding of microcontroller architectures (ARM Cortex-M, AVR, PIC, or similar)Familiarity with communication protocols: I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, USBBasic understanding of RTOS concepts (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or similar) is a plusExperience with debugging tools (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, JTAG/SWD)Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detailAbility to read schematics and datasheetsPreferred QualificationsExperience with Python or scripting languages for test automationFamiliarity with version control systems (Git)Exposure to PCB design tools (Altium, KiCad, Eagle)Knowledge of Linux-based embedded systems (Yocto, Buildroot)Understanding of low-power design techniquesPrior internship, co-op, or academic project experience in embedded systems, robotics, or IoTEmail your updated resume to:srikanth.c@maximatek.com
