Must possess manual dexterity and an eye for detail. Knowledge of mathematics and mechanics as well as respect for safety precautions is necessary. The goal is to ensure effective production operations and optimize procedures.RESPONSIBILITIES:Follow all safety procedures and guidelinesReview drawings or instructions to understand specifications of outputPlan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a jobSelect appropriate machines (e.g. surface grinder) and position or load material for a jobDetermine speed and feed ratesRun multiple grinding machinesMonitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issuesCheck output to ensure consistency within specificationsKeep records of approved and defective unitsPerform routine machine maintenance QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Proven experience as a machinistAbility to set-up and troubleshoot machine toolsExperience in using and setting manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders, etc.)Ability to use precision tools (micrometers, indicators, etc.) to take accurate measurementsKnowledge of the properties of ceramic material a plusAbility to read blueprintsStrong mathematical and geometric skills with excellent analytical abilitiesFamiliar with Diamond grinding wheelsFamiliar with machine shop equipmentHigh school diploma or equivalent5 years' experience working with close tolerances on grinding equipmentIndividual must be a:Citizen of the United States, orPermanent resident alien of the United States, orProtected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) as defined by 22CFR120.15 QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:Vocational training certification and/or an apprenticeship highly preferred10 years' experience working with close tolerances on grinding equipment PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to stand for 8+ hours per dayMust be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.Exposure to the manufacturing area which requires the use of personal protective equipmentExposure to shop environment such as noise, dust, heat and odorsRequired to reach above shoulder height and/or below the waist PAY RANGE:5-10 years' experience - $25.00 to $28.00 per hour10+ years' experience - $29.00 to $32.00 per hour
