Android Platform Engineer
Role OverviewAgility Partners is seeking a Senior Android Platform Engineer to join a high-impact mobile platform team supporting one of the nation's largest digital commerce applications.This is not a traditional feature development role. You'll focus on building and maintaining the Android platform capabilities that enable dozens of feature teams to deliver scalable, high-performing mobile experiences. The team owns platform initiatives including performance optimization, networking, caching, architecture, build tooling, SDK governance, security, privacy, and accessibility.What You'll Work On• Improve application performance, startup times, rendering, memory utilization, and responsiveness• Build and maintain Android platform capabilities used across multiple teams• Optimize caching, networking, and data delivery patterns• Improve build performance, CI/CD efficiency, and developer productivity• Support platform architecture, engineering standards, and mobile tooling• Partner with feature teams to solve platform-wide challenges• Conduct profiling, diagnostics, benchmarking, and root cause analysis• Troubleshoot complex issues within a large-scale consumer applicationTop 3 Skillsets• Kotlin & Android SDK expertise• Mobile performance optimization and tuning• Experience supporting large-scale production mobile applicationsMust Have• Strong Kotlin development experience• Deep understanding of Android SDK and application internals• Experience with large-scale consumer mobile applications• Performance optimization experience (startup, rendering, memory, responsiveness)• Caching and networking experience• Mobile architecture and platform engineering experience• Profiling, diagnostics, monitoring, and root cause analysis experience• Ability to contribute within large, complex codebasesNice to Have• Mobile Platform Team experience• Applications serving millions of users• Build optimization and CI/CD experience• Modular architecture experience• SDK governance and lifecycle management experienceWhat Success Looks Like• Improved platform performance and application stability• Faster build times and improved developer productivity• Increased adoption of platform standards and best practices• Successful support of security, privacy, and accessibility initiatives• Better tools, foundations, and patterns for Android engineers across the organization
