Our technologies, products and services deliver distinctive performance features, thus helping to support our Customers' reputations for trusted brands around the globe and in a wide variety of markets.We are seeking an individual who is passionate about joining a team in the manufacturing of high quality laminates and films used in a variety of applications including on cabinetry in kitchen and bath applications, countertops and paneling in recreational vehicles and in the enhancement of interior retail spaces.The Calender Mill Operator will perform various duties to operate the extruder and the mill to bring the plastic material from the mixing section and provide a steady supply of material to the calender.Key Responsibilities:Understand and utilize Calender and mill safety equipment and proceduresKnow and use required personal protective equipment (PPE)Understand RCRA and MSDS labeling and "Right to Know" requirementsKnow all Mill and Calender emergency proceduresKnow where all the emergency stops are locatedMill, Extruder and Strainer start-up and shut-downComplete all head changes and technical changes, have a working knowledge of proper screen packs to utilize per product typeAdjust and access machines for cleaningMonitor and maintain oil and fluid levels on mill and extruderControl temperature and feed rate of materialMaintain housekeeping of the mill area/ organize all tools in mill areaRework hot and cold trim into millAssist crew with calender functionsMaintain a record of all scrap material taken off at the mill and other reports and paperwork requiredManually work material on the mill if requiredUse all material handling equipment requiredParticipate in start-ups, wrap-ups, etc. on calender lineReport quality or task difficulties to supervisor, Calender Crew Leader or appropriate personnelMake crew leader aware of any conditions out of specifications of equipmentKnow the various thread pattens for all conveyors, driven mill and calendar roll on the calenderTrain and assist others as neededOperate forklift when necessaryLearn skills, procedures or processes for advancement and improvementWork with Calender Crew Leader to optimize quality and outputMaintain a clean, orderly, and safe work areaLead in changing Mill and calendar hot trim knivesStore, identify and record rework and scrapAssist in buffing calender rollsClean floor and take out trashPerform any additional duties as requested to meet business or production conditions or changesUnderstand the quality system and all quality procedures relevant to this positionAssist the Calender Operator in maintaining a quality sheetAssist Calender Operator in completion of Calender pass on logs, reports, records, and all necessary paperworkDocument and report all mechanical and electrical problems to Crew Leader, Supervisor, and maintenanceReport any and all quality or task difficulties to Crew Leader and supervisor or personnelRequired Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Frequently communicates and exchanges work information with othersExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailBasic computer skills to occasionally produce memorandum and other long documentsAbility to work together as a team in a high-performance work environment to complete the job on timeMechanical aptitudeEducation and Experience:High school diploma or equivalentPhysical Requirements:Must be able to lift 50 pounds as neededFrequently positions self to use/maintain personal protective equipmentProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerComfortable with working in a manufacturing environment alongside machines, equipment, etc.Ability to detect, distinguish, or determine the source of a smellExposure or works around chemical processing, unregulated temperature, dusty conditionsDesired Qualifications:Prior extruder experienceTravel Requirements:Time spent away from home or typical office location.0%☒ 10%☐ 20%☐ 30%☐ 40%☐ 50% or more☐Company Statement:SURTECO North America is an Equal Opportunity employer committed to providing equal access to employment.
