SENIOR MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
Senior Maintenance TechnicianThe purpose of this job is to perform responsible advanced skilled work in the maintenance, repair, modification, installation and construction of County facilities and equipment. This position works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Performing a broad range of skilled trades including carpentry, painting, masonry, metal work, tiling and related tasks
Participating in the maintenance and repair of buildings, structural components, doors, door frames, windows, floors, ceilings, walls, and roofs
Identifying problems, determining solutions and/or repair needs and performing necessary work
Repairing furniture and bleachers and installing partitions, shelves, doors, windows, floors, ceilings and walls
Installing sheetrock and paneling, plaster walls and finishes concrete
Updating buildings for new tenants
Assisting with providing cost estimates for repairs, installations, maintenance and other trades as helper
Completing office moves and/or transport furniture to department offices
Ordering and transporting materials and supplies
Installing and repairing rain gutters and roofs
Removing and hauling trash, moving furniture and equipment
Knowledge, skills and abilities required include:
General knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, tools, terminology and safety precautions of building maintenance trades
General knowledge of the use and characteristics of common building materials
Skilled in the operation of various tools and equipment used in the trade
Ability to work from sketches, drawings, plans or specifications
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and maintain records
Ability to estimate needed materials and time required for various jobs
Ability to rig scaffolds
Minimum education and experience requirements include:
High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by two (2) years of experience in the repair, construction, or maintenance of equipment and/or facilities; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
Physical demands include:
Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis
Unavoidable hazards include:
Routine and frequent exposure to: Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen: Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions. Extreme noise levels; Animals/wildlife; Vibration; Fumes and/or noxious odors; Traffic; Moving machinery
Special certifications and licenses required:
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Preferred: Prefer a CDL class B Driver's License
