This position is responsible for:Providing virtual, in-home and community play-based visits with children (ages 0-6) and families/caregivers.Educating families in understanding child's vision diagnosis and providing suggestions to assist with modifying activities and environments to help support the development of the child.Use standardized assessment tools to monitor development.Prepare families for educational planning meetings, attend Individualized Family Service Plan and Individualized Education Plan meetings.Attend medical appointments with families.Collaborate with other professionals, maintain positive business relationships with outside agencies.Support families by providing community resources and referrals related to childhood vision loss, development and education.Conduct research, prepare monthly reports on client progress, attend staff and community meetings.Maintain current knowledge of early childhood best practices.Current knowledge of early childhood education for the visually impaired.Provide and moderate informational workshopsMinimum Requirements:Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education or related field or equivalent required.At least three (3) years of experience working with families and children in early childhood intervention/special education.Experience working with visual impairment virtually, in-home and school settings, using assessment tools.Excellent computer skills utilizing MS Office and newer technology such as iPad and learning applications.Position requires excellent communication, time management, and facilitation skills.The ability to work independently out in the field and represent the organization while meeting the needs of children and families.Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid certified preferred.Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.Children ages 0-6; is strongly recommended.Driving 1-2 times a week for field visits; car is strongly recommended.Braille Institute is an equal opportunity employer (EEOC).
