Job Description This role is located in Noblesville, IN.Essential Job ResponsibilitiesThe CNC Operator fully manages the machining tasks and maintenance necessary to produce SMC components and will complete the following tasks for their roleSet Up: Perform machine change overs to manufacture different components based on daily assignments.Prepare: use blueprints to set the machine to the job’s specifications, insert the tooling needed, and gather the necessary materials for the job assignment. This process will be repeated for each of the day’s assignments.Operate: supervise the machine while it executes the tasks and make any necessary adjustments or troubles hoot issues to produce a better-finished product in specifications; use measurement tools (ex. Micrometer) to check that the desired result was achieved, perform preventative machine maintenance and keep workstation orderly.Maintaining a safe and productive work environment by following safety rules, OSHA, ISO regulations, 5S standards.In this role, you will complete all other duties as assigned daily by your supervisor.ESSENTIAL DUTIESAdherence to all department work instructionsEnsure the respective area is compliant with 5S standardsProcess all necessary paperwork associated with established machining standardsExecute basic to advanced workflow tasks on established SMC systemsWork from SMC blueprints for standard and modified parts and “X” optionsConduct basic preventative maintenance on machinesBasic knowledge of SMC raw material propertiesBasic knowledge of SMC productsApplies proper feed and speed rates for individual machines and materialsWork with “Go/No-Go” Gages, Micrometers, Calipers, Comparators, or any other inspection tooling.Conduct minor editing/modifications to programs for special “X” optionsQuality control of parts to ensure dimensions within tolerancesAdherence to all safety rulesBasics knowledge of paintingAdherence to all QA Management system standardsSet up and Operate all CNC lathes, mills, drills, and bar-fed machinesPHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENTThe physical demands of this position require the employee to stand, walk, and use their hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with their hands and arms. The role will also necessitate the employee to lift heavy components as needed; SMC will provide an overhead hoist to assist with this task.While the production facility is temperature controlled, the work environment may expose employees to noise, heat, cold, dust, lubricants, and/or solvents.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Prior CNC machine experience or certification from a CNC training instituteExperience using a Press Brake machineAvailable to work overtime on weekdays/weekends as needed (multiple schedules are available)Basic computer and math skillsDetail-oriented, ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectivelyPREFERRED REQUIREMENTSTube bending experience (Copper)CNC punch machine experienceSome braising experienceQualified candidates will be trained in the machining operations as necessary.Company DescriptionSMC Corporation of America is a part of a global organization that supports our customers in every industrialized country and is the U.S. subsidiary of SMC Corporation based in Japan.
