Grounds Day PorterWe're excited to provide the best education in the best environment to our students!Location: 4540 West Glendale Avenue Glendale, AZ 85301Position SummaryWe are looking for an exceptional day porter person to perform a variety of general maintenance and custodial duties in and around school buildings including plumbing, painting, landscaping, and repairs.Responsibilities:Maintain the general appearance of the exterior grounds of the campus by following daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance schedulesSweeping, raking, and blowing sidewalks, parking lot, and common areas to keep free of rocks, debris, and trashEmpties exterior trash cans and picks up exterior trashAssures exterior play areas and equipment are safePrunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve appearance and growthSprays lawn areas with herbicides to control undesirable weeds as directedMaintains all landscape equipment and tools in good working condition and demonstrates proficiency of use (pole saws, weed eaters, backpack blowers, etc.)Power washes sidewalks, exterior of building, and fencing to keep clean and free from debris and graffitiExterior and interior paint touch up as necessary to keep the grounds looking in excellent conditionMaintains and makes minor repairs to irrigation systems, ensuring grass areas are getting proper wateringRakes rock areas to maintain uniform spreading, especially around playground equipmentDriveline support, including setting up and maintaining safety cones and signsComply with chemical handling laws and safety regulations as required; maintain a safe working environmentAnswer questions and interact professionally with school administrationPerforms the necessary room set-ups for scheduled meetings and events (including daily cafeteria set-up)Assists in building security, locking and unlocking of doors and gatesAssist with routine maintenance tasks such as light bulb and filter changesNotifies Office Manager of the need to order materials/suppliesNotifies Head of Operations/Facilities Manager the need for any major repairs, or additions to building operating systemsAssist with cleaning and maintaining building facilities including classrooms, break rooms, conference rooms, teacher work rooms, library/media rooms, gymnasiums, lunchrooms, nurses' rooms, stages and lobby/receptionist areas as necessaryKnowledge of HAZMAT regulations and Safety Data Sheets requiredOther duties as assignedEmployee Benefits:Competitive salariesPaid sick days and personal leaveFully paid employee benefits including medical, dental, short/long term disability, and life insurance; optional low-cost vision insurance401k retirement plan (with 4% employer match)Compensation: $15.00 - $18 per hour, DOE.Qualified Candidates Must Have:High School Diploma or GED2 years Experience with cleaning school environments or similarFamiliar with SDSUnderstanding of basic cleaning equipment operation such as Backpack Vacuum, Floor Varnisher, Microfiber Cleaning Systems.Ability to work in teamsAbility to respond to School Emergencies such as classroom spills and lunchroom spills.Join us to enjoy rewarding challenges and ongoing opportunities!
