About the RoleJoin a team developing next-generation, cloud-native applications that support critical initiatives for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain modern web applications hosted in AWS, helping transform legacy systems into scalable, secure cloud solutions that improve mission delivery.Working alongside software engineers, UX designers, DevSecOps engineers, and subject matter experts, you'll build intuitive applications, develop robust APIs, and implement cloud-native services supporting complex operational workflows.This position supports a federal government program and requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Public Trust clearance.Key ResponsibilitiesFull Stack DevelopmentDesign, develop, and maintain modern web applications using JavaScript/TypeScript and contemporary frontend frameworks.Build responsive, interactive user interfaces for data-intensive applications.Develop backend services and RESTful APIs supporting cloud-native web applications.Create scalable data processing pipelines within AWS.Develop interactive mapping and visualization capabilities.Build reusable, maintainable, and well-tested software components.Cloud DevelopmentDesign and implement cloud-native applications utilizing AWS services.Integrate services including S3, Lambda, API Gateway, EKS, and DynamoDB.Develop scalable microservices supporting enterprise applications.Optimize application performance, availability, and reliability within AWS environments.Software EngineeringWrite clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.Develop unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.Troubleshoot issues across the full application stack.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality technical solutions.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.2+ years of professional experience in full stack software development.Proficiency with JavaScript or TypeScript.Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.Experience building responsive web applications using HTML5 and CSS3.Backend development experience with Node.js, Python, or Java.Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.Familiarity with AWS cloud services and serverless architectures.Experience working within microservices-based environments.Strong understanding of software engineering best practices.U.S. Citizenship required.Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Public Trust clearance.Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting federal government or Department of Veterans Affairs programs.Previous experience working in regulated or security-focused environments.Experience with AWS services including EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, and DynamoDB.Experience developing geospatial or data visualization applications.Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.Experience processing large datasets or real-time data streams.Experience working within Agile software development teams.Technical EnvironmentFrontendReact, Angular, or Vue.jsJavaScript / TypeScriptHTML5CSS3BackendNode.jsPythonJavaCloud & InfrastructureAWSLambdaAPI GatewayEKSS3DynamoDBArchitectureREST APIsMicroservicesCloud-Native Applications
