Work involves the use of hand and power tools. Employee must exercise initiative and independent judgment in completion of assigned tasks. Actively coordinates with Water Treatment Plant Operators. Coordinates the procurement of parts as needed. Employee must also exercise tact, courtesy and firmness when contact with customers and the general public.Reports to Water Treatment Plant Manager.Job HighlightsOversees the Water Treatment Plant mechanical/maintenance team; manages the mechanical/maintenance team's schedules and projects.Installs, maintains, repairs and replaces equipment at the County's Water Treatment Plant. This includes piping, motors, chemical pumps, water pumps, vacuum pumps, air compressors and other equipment.Routinely operates hand tools, power tools and industry-specialized tools.Manages preventative maintenance of Water Treatment Plant equipment.Coordinates activities with supervisor and Water Treatment Plant Operators to ensure compliance with state regulations. Ensures the use of NSF grease, oils and other products when required by state regulations.Ensures proper safety procedures in all job functions. Maintains awareness of safety requirements for industrial waterworks environments and on-site chemical Safety Data Sheets.Maintains records and files related to installation, maintenance, repairs and replacement of equipment.Manages parts inventory. Coordinates the procurement of parts under limited supervision.Maintains a clean and organized Inventory Room and Mechanic's Room. Maintains a clean and safe work environment.Responds to after hours and emergency calls as needed.Performs other duties as assigned.For a complete Job Description: Utility Mechanic ForemanQualificationsPossession of a high school diploma/GED.Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in mechanical maintenance work to include preventative maintenance and troubleshooting; experience in spare parts inventory management and fabrication preferred (i.e. welding, milling machines, and lathes).Special RequirementsPossession of a valid driver's license; possess and maintain a driving record that meets established Gloucester County Driving Standards.Must pass a post-offer, pre-employment physical.
