Students in 1st year must have pre-requisites for Respiratory Therapist studies complete.This is a per diem position.The Respiratory Extern works within the Respiratory Care Department to deliver limited respiratory care support services under the supervision of an individual holding a Pennsylvania license. The Respiratory Extern provides supportive care to patients, including surveillance of monitoring equipment; assists respiratory care practitioners in the provision of care to pediatric patients and their families; and maintains a clean, comfortable, and well-stocked area.What You Will DoPerforms equipment set-up and monitoring under direct supervision of RT/Preceptor.Assists in the provision of care to patients and families under the supervision of RT/Preceptor.Demonstrates an awareness of research.Education QualificationsHigh School Diploma / GED RequiredAssociate's Degree Current enrollment in an accredited respiratory care program or employed as a respiratory extern with an associates degree, awaiting credentialing from the NBRC. Credentials must be completed within 6 months of graduation. RequiredSkills And AbilitiesAbility to handle confidential information appropriately.Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writingLicenses and CertificationsBasic Life Support (BLS) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex.
