Reports to: Senior Manager, Production Safety or Client Representative
Job Type: Temporary/Project-Based
Pay Range: $2200 to $2900 per week
Job Summary
The Safety Advisor supports client health, safety and environmental programs for motion picture and TV productions and contributes to the safety culture and training of cast and crew. This includes compliance with regulatory requirements and advising on best practices in production safety.
Key Responsibilities
Manage environmental, health & safety consulting service for client productions
Evaluate production concepts, scripts, and pitches for safety and environmental concerns
Collaborate with Production Executives, Producers, and Unit Production Managers to mitigate safety risks
Support productions in planning and execution phases; assess safety needs and secure vendors
Attend technical scouts and production meetings
Develop and distribute the Production Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP)
Mentor other safety professionals
Evaluate sets, stages, and locations for safety issues and recommend corrective actions
Respond to and investigate production incidents and emergencies
Coordinate and deliver EHS training to production employees
Promote safety culture and injury reduction initiatives
Maintain relationships with industry safety bodies and regulatory agencies
Resolve safety issues quickly during production
Collaborate with risk managers and insurers on loss prevention
Research applicable regulations based on filming locations
Liaise with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders
Required Qualifications
Must be local to the LA area
OSHA 30 certification
Experience in studio or on-location production environments
Deep understanding of TV and film production practices, equipment, and safety considerations
Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Zoom, WebEx
Ability to work under pressure and handle confidential matters
Ability to work at heights (catwalks, ladders, roofs, scaffolding, etc.)
Capable of handling tasks that demand physical strength and comfortable working outdoors in diverse weather conditions
Ability to travel both domestically and internationally
Must have or be able to obtain valid documentation for international travel
Recommended Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in safety management, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
BCSP (ASP, CSP, SME, etc.) or COHN, COHN-S certification
Familiarity with applicable federal, regional, and local EHS regulations (OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, etc.)
Facilities EHS and Production Safety hybrid experience
CSATF Safety Advisor Training
Certified Asbestos Building Inspector
OSHA Certified Fall Protection Competent Person
First Aid/CPR
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Hybrid role with regular on-set presence required
Domestic and international travel may be required
Reliable transportation or ability to self-report to and from work required for local hires
Ability to:
Walk for extended periods and sit for long durations
Work at heights (catwalks, ladders, roofs, scaffolding, etc.)
Perform physically demanding tasks in diverse outdoor weather conditions
