Assistant Project ManagerAbout the RoleWe are a leading general contracting firm operating across New York with a strong portfolio in healthcare, institutional, and complex commercial construction. We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to join our New York Operations team. This is an opportunity to manage meaningful phases of work, develop your leadership skills, and grow within a high-performance project delivery environment that places safety, quality, and collaboration at its core.What You'll Do- Manage and take ownership of assigned phases of work, ensuring safe and compliant site operations in line with project-specific safety and logistics plans- Understand and navigate permitting, violations, and contract obligations — including specialty trade and owner contract language- Manage and mentor 1–2 direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement- Oversee purchasing processes including bid leveling, specialty partner meetings, and drafting scope exhibits- Manage the submittal schedule process including full constructability reviews and conversion of issues into RFIs- Lead quality control and quality assurance for assigned trades and coordinate inspections with field leadership- Manage change orders from identification through resolution, communicating clearly with internal teams and external partners- Read and navigate project schedules, identify potential issues, and draft scope-specific schedules for integration into the master program- Conduct quality project meetings with internal and external stakeholders with minimal oversight- Manage specialty partner closeout from start to finish, including all documentation and financial reconciliation- Champion an incident- and injury-free (IIF) safety culture in partnership with field superintendentsWhat We're Looking For- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management preferred- Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or institutional construction strongly preferred- Prior experience managing 1–2 direct reports- Valid NYC Site Safety Training (SST) card required- NYC Superintendent Registration required- Strong understanding of trade coordination, subcontractor buyout, and construction logistics- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with confidence leading stakeholder meetingsWhy Join UsHealthcare project portfolio | Clear growth path | Strong mentorship culture | New York Operations team | IIF safety leadership | Competitive compensation | Direct report responsibilityReady to Apply?If you have a passion for complex construction projects and a track record of delivering in fast-paced environments, we'd love to hear from you.
