Job Summary:
The Student Engagement Coach & After-School Enrichment Instructor plays a crucial role in supporting student engagement and providing enriching experiences for children in both structured school settings and after-school programs. This entry-level position combines the responsibilities of a student engagement coach during school hours with those of an after-school enrichment instructor, providing opportunities for personal and academic growth in a variety of settings.
Responsibilities:
Student Engagement Coaching:
Assist in facilitating structured and unstructured activities during school hours, including recess, to promote student engagement and positive social interactions.
Support the implementation of behavioral expectations and guidelines to create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for students.
Participate in activities aimed at fostering social-emotional skills, such as self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and communication.
Build positive relationships with students, contributing to a sense of belonging and connectedness within the school community.
Assist in monitoring student behavior and providing support as needed to address conflicts and promote positive behavior.
After-School Enrichment Instruction:
Assist in planning and facilitating educational, creative, or recreational activities for students in after-school enrichment programs, under the guidance of experienced instructors.
Support the implementation of age-appropriate lesson plans and curriculum that align with student interests and learning objectives.
Provide assistance and encouragement to students during enrichment activities, promoting skill development, creativity, and exploration.
Contribute to maintaining a supportive and engaging learning environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love of learning.
Assist in monitoring student progress and providing feedback to help guide individual learning.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with teachers, staff, and experienced instructors to support student engagement initiatives and promote a positive school culture.
Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders to provide updates on student engagement activities and after-school enrichment programs.
Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in behavior management, social-emotional learning, and program facilitation.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or relevant experience preferred.
Demonstrated interest in working with children and youth in educational or recreational settings.
Basic knowledge of child development principles, behavior management techniques, and social-emotional learning strategies.
Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to the needs of diverse student populations.
CPR and first aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Commitment to creating a positive and inclusive environment for all students.
