Java Developer - Apache Flink

Role : Java with Apache Flink Location : San Leandro, CA – Onsite from day 1Duration : ContractJob SummaryWe are looking for an experienced Java Backend Developer with strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Apache Flink, Apache Kafka, and Microservices. The ideal candidate will develop scalable backend services and real-time data-streaming applications capable of processing high-volume data with low latency.The role requires strong knowledge of stream processing, distributed systems, event-driven architecture, REST APIs, and cloud-native application development.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.Build real-time data-processing and streaming applications using Apache Flink.Develop Flink jobs for high-volume, low-latency stream processing.Design and implement Kafka-based event-driven data pipelines.Develop Kafka producers and consumers and manage topics, partitions, consumer groups, and offsets.Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices.Integrate Apache Flink with Kafka, databases, APIs, and other enterprise data sources.Implement data transformation, enrichment, filtering, aggregation, and windowing using Flink.Work with Flink state management, checkpoints, fault tolerance, and exactly-once/at-least-once processing concepts.Optimize applications for throughput, latency, scalability, and reliability.Design solutions using distributed-system and event-driven architecture principles.Perform debugging, root-cause analysis, performance tuning, and production support.Write clean, reusable, maintainable, and testable Java code.Develop unit and integration tests using JUnit and Mockito.Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and architecture reviews.Collaborate with QA, DevOps, product, and other engineering teams.Contribute to CI/CD, deployment automation, monitoring, and application observability.Required Technical SkillsProven years of hands-on experience in Java backend development.Strong proficiency in Core Java 8/11/17+.Strong experience with Spring Boot and Spring Framework.Hands-on experience with Apache Flink and stream-processing applications.Strong understanding of Flink DataStream API and real-time data processing.Experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture.Strong experience developing Microservices and RESTful APIs.Good understanding of distributed systems and asynchronous processing.Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.Strong understanding of Java Collections, Streams, Multithreading, Exception Handling, and OOP.Experience with Maven or Gradle.Experience with Git and version-control workflows.Experience with JUnit, Mockito, and integration testing.Apache Flink SkillsCandidates should have hands-on experience with:Apache Flink architecture and runtime concepts.DataStream API.Stream transformations and operators.Keyed Streams and stateful stream processing.Tumbling, sliding, and session windows.Event-time and processing-time semantics.Watermarks and late-arriving events.State management and state backends.Checkpointing and savepoints.Fault tolerance and recovery.Parallelism and task slots.Backpressure and performance optimization.Exactly-once and at-least-once processing.Integration with Apache Kafka and other data sources/sinks.Kafka & Event StreamingStrong understanding of Kafka architecture.Experience with Kafka producers and consumers.Knowledge of topics, partitions, offsets, and consumer groups.Experience handling message ordering, retries, failures, and dead-letter queues.Understanding of event-driven and asynchronous architectures.Experience designing scalable real-time streaming pipelines.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Flink SQL / Table API.Experience with Confluent Kafka.Knowledge of Apache Avro, Protobuf, or Schema Registry.Experience with Redis, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, or other distributed data stores.Knowledge of Kubernetes operators for Flink.Experience working with high-throughput, low-latency applications.Understanding of distributed systems, data pipelines, and real-time analytics.Experience in Agile/Scrum development environmentsWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
