SerVermont - Vermont Land Access and Opportunity Board VISTA
We build programs to directly address barriers to housing, land, foodways and shelter for populations who have experienced generational and societal poverty. The Land Access and Opportunity Board prioritizes investments in projects and strategies that break cycles of poverty by creating opportunities for disadvantaged communities to invest resources directly into the alleviation strategies that address their needs. LAOB is in itself, an entity which seeks to engage systems in better service to all Vermonters. We are dedicated to creating safe and inclusive spaces in everything we do. Our organization holds the dignity and identity of all who live, work and play in Vermont as important to our values. Two AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteers will provide support and thought leadership regarding three initiatives of the Vermont Land Access and Opportunity Board: The Community Resilience grant program, Secure Housing Coach program and the Small-Scale Developers Training Program. Each program has an associated cohort or community of practice as a core component of the initiative. These programs are new to Vermont and offer technical assistance, community coordination and planning as well as resource generation and distribution. The Community Resilience Grant Program is a grant giving program that invites communities to work collaboratively towards building local resilience and response networks and strategies to everyday challenges and emergencies. Our Secure Housing Coach program has not yet launched and is still in development. This program will provide three housing coaches to help those most vulnerable to secure permanent housing, home/land purchase and equity sharing, and includes a dedicated coach for the disability community. The Small-Scale Developer’s program is designed to work with individuals, small groups and investors who are interested in building housing and agricultural options for those with the least access to land and housing.Further help on this page can be found by clicking here .Member Duties : VISTA Volunteers will serve directly with the LAOB team on building program infrastructure and data management support, communications support, report authoring, event planning and capacity building supports within our programs.
