Team members join an organization focused on reliability, safety, and long-term partnerships.Role Description The Mainline Track Hoe Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in Salt Lake City, UT. This role is responsible for safely operating a track hoe on mainline utility and earthwork projects, including trenching, backfilling, grading, and loading materials. Daily tasks include inspecting equipment before use, monitoring machine performance, and reporting maintenance needs. The operator will work closely with site supervisors and crew members to follow project plans, maintain safe work zones, and support efficient jobsite workflows. The role also includes reading grade stakes or guidance from grade checkers, working around underground utilities, and adapting to changing site conditions and schedules.QualificationsDemonstrated proficiency operating a track hoe or similar heavy equipment on construction or utility projects, with a strong focus on safe and efficient machine control.Experience in earthwork and utility trenching, including excavation around existing utilities, trench backfilling, grading, and working to line and grade.Solid understanding of construction site safety practices, including PPE use, equipment lockout/tagout basics, trench safety, and safe work around crews and traffic.Ability to read and follow directions from supervisors, interpret grade stakes or layout markings, and communicate clearly with ground personnel and other operators.Physical ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions, stand and sit for extended periods, and climb in and out of heavy equipment safely.Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from the jobsite; eligibility to work in the United States.Previous experience on civil, road, or utility construction projects is strongly preferred; familiarity with GPS or laser-guided systems is a plus.Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and varying shifts, in alignment with project schedules and seasonal demands.Commitment to teamwork, punctuality, and professional conduct on site; ability to follow company policies and safety procedures consistently.Ability to lead and train there own crews.
