Business Office Specialist - Medical Billing & Coding

** PLEASE NOTE, this is not a direct position with WorkSource Oregon. WorkSource is conducting this recruitment on behalf of a small nonprofit clinic based in SE Portland. This employer has asked WorkSource Oregon (the Oregon Employment Department) to source, screen, and refer the most qualified applicants to the position as part of a public service to Oregon businesses. ** REQUIREMENTS: -2+ years of medical billing insurance experience, including knowledge of OHP, Commercial and Medicare -Strong computer skills knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel, capacity to learn new systems efficiently (InSync EMR) -High School Diploma/GED PREFERENCES: -Prior experience in a clinical and/or behavioral healthcare setting -Prior experience in a non-profit setting -Bachelor's degree in business or related OR -Associate's degree in medical billing & coding (or related) JOB DUTIES: -Customer service phone calls to help clients understand their statements and balances due -Internal referrals: Process and verify coverage for integrated services, scheduling appointments per policy -Posting daily charges into our Practice Management system -Checking insurance eligibility with appropriate carriers as needed -Posting payments daily into our Practice Management system -Knowledge of credentialing is a plus PAY: -$25/hr - $28/hr depending on experience BENEFITS: -Fully paid Kaiser Health, Vision, and Dental insurance, with options to increase coverage and dependents -403b Retirement savings account with 1% employer contribution -5 Weeks paid time off in first year, increasing with tenure -Qualify for student loan forgiveness programs -Fully paid Employee Assistance Program with Canopy -2 month fully paid sabbatical after 7 years with Quest -9 annual paid holidays -Annual continuing education budget and professional training funds of $1,000 EMPLOYER COMMENTS: For more than 35 years, our mission has been to provide integrative healthcare services, community, and education to people seeking a wellness-focused approach to living.
