Adjunct Instructor - Adult Education
Job Summary:The Part-Time Adult Education Instructor serves as an adjunct faculty member delivering instruction in one of three core content areas: English Language Arts (ELA), English as a Second Language (ESL), or Mathematics. Each instructor is assigned to a specific subject area and is responsible for providing high-quality, student-centered instruction to adult learners in Union and Bradley Counties. Instruction supports adult learners in developing literacy, numeracy, language acquisition, civics, and workforce readiness skills, depending on the assigned discipline. Courses are delivered through a combination of in-person classes, remote instruction, and online learning platforms. Instructors are responsible for implementing standards-aligned curriculum, assessing student needs, and fostering student progress toward educational and career goals within their assigned content area. This position works under the general supervision of the Director of Adult Education. This is a part-time position working approximately 8-10 hours per week. No travel between counties is required. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institutional policy. Compensation: $25 per hourSupervisory Responsibilities:N/ADuties and Responsibilities:Develop and deliver instructional content in ELA, ESL, and/or Mathematics aligned with state standards and program goals.Interpret student assessment data to determine appropriate placement and instructional strategies.Maintain accurate records, including attendance, student progress, and assessment data in compliance with state and federal reporting requirements.Collaborate with other Adult Education staff to recruit and retain learners.Coordinate the delivery of instruction across multiple sites, including scheduling, curriculum planning, and materials management.Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and required training.Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Adult Education.Skills and Abilities:Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and support diverse populations of adult learnersStrong classroom management and instructional planning skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-site environmentAbility to develop curriculum and adapt instruction based on learner needs and assessment dataProficient in integrating technology into instruction (e.g., learning management systems, educational software apps, etc.)Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office, email, and online learning platformsExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, students, and community partnersRequired Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or related fieldValid Arkansas teaching licenseTeaching experience in adult education, post-secondary, or K-12Valid driver's license and reliable transportationMust obtain Arkansas Adult Education Certification within three years of employmentPreferred Education and Experience:Current Arkansas Adult Education CertificationFamiliar with adult education data systems and test assessmentsExperience with technology including remote teachingPhysical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or moving around.
