Adjunct Marine Transportation Instructor

General ResponsibilitiesPlease note, these are non-benefitted, temporary/contract positionsInstruct college-level Marine Transportation courses. Preferred specializations include navigation, ship-handling and shipboard safety, seamanship, and watchstanding. Potentialcourse taught may include Integrated Navigation, Advanced Shiphandling, Coastal Navigation and Electronic Navigation. Massachusetts Maritime Academy follows a "Learn-Do-Learn" model, where our hands-on simulation labs and classroom experiences enable our students to "apply" textbook knowledge in the field.Qualifications and RequirementsHold a Bachelor's Degree in Marine Transportation or related field;Hold a Third Mate license with current Standard of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) qualifications.Have at least three years of professional maritime experiencePossess an understanding of teaching in the university settingExhibit excellent oral and written communications skillsUnderstand the unique mission of the university as a maritime academyPreferred Qualifications* Holder a master's degree in Marine Transportation or related field.* Have at least three years of maritime experience or teaching experience at an accredited institution of higher learningSalaryPay is based on the number of credits taught at a rate of $2,343.75/credit.
