Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Project Design Engineer will produce complete designs of architectural and perimeter security products for various customers and clients, including the US Government. The Project Design Engineer will be responsible for development, product integration into specification-driven projects, drawings for window and door systems, and design coordination with outside engineering consultants and project site engineering staff.Job Duties & Responsibilities:Produce project-specific, conceptual designs that match the requests of customers and the product design teamConduct regular meetings with internal project managers and clients to ensure projects are designed to meet project requirementsEnsure integration of products into spec-driven project submittalsEnsure products are designed and integrated in compliance with US Department of State, Department of Defense, and/or other related certifications and specificationsProvide guidance to drafters within the engineering teamInteraction with Operations and Manufacturing Engineer, and supply chain personnel to confirm manufacturing of design.Other duties as assignedCandidate Requirements:U.S. CitizenAbility to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance (Secret)Undergraduate degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (Structural, Mechanical, Architectural) and 3+ years of experience, or in lieu of degree, 5+ years of experience performing in a similar roleStructural and Architectural/Civil Engineering focus preferredExcellent in problem-solvingAbility to read architectural and engineering drawingsStrong technical expertise related to design and constructionProficiency in Autodesk products (Inventor and AutoCAD)Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Basic understanding of project management, document control, and product lifecycle management software (Autodesk Vault). Autodesk Revit, and fusion 360 knowledge a plusStrong communication, organization, and problem-solving skillsAbility to travel occasionally both domestically & internationally (5-10%)Knowledge of Department of State building engineering standards, design for forced entry resistance and ballistic resistance (FE/BR), façade design, architectural design, and construction specifications is desirable but not requiredProject Design Engineer Role-Specific Requirements:Highly detail-oriented in design, drafting, and coordination of project objectives.Ability to interpret spatial conditions and constraints to ensure accurate product fitment, alignment, and integration within assemblies and overall project environments.Proficient in using AutoCAD 2D and Inventor in combination.Strong understanding of fundamental engineering disciplines, including:Mechanical aptitudeStructural aptitudeCivil aptitudeAble to learn and adapt to existing company norms without attempting to alter established processes.Responsible for supporting multimillion-dollar engineering projects, ensuring proper integration of products into specification-driven submittals.Develop project-specific conceptual designs that align with customer requirements and internal product design standards.Lead and participate in regular meetings with internal project managers and clients to ensure designs meet all project requirements.Ensure all products are designed and integrated in compliance with U.S. Department of State, Department of Defense, and other applicable certifications and specifications.Collaborate with operations, manufacturing engineering, and supply chain personnel to validate design manufacturability and production readiness.Compensation & Benefits:Competitive compensationBlue Cross Blue Shield Health and Dental group insurance benefits; Vision insuranceCompany-provided Life, AD&D, and Long-term Disability (LTD) benefitsCompany-paid vacation and sick leave401 (k) with company matchPhysical Environment:Position is in-person, with limited opportunities for remote work. Functions in a temperature-controlled office environment most of the time. Work requires the ability to sit throughout an extended workday (8-10 hours) with occasional walking into other areas of the manufacturing facility: position requires use of fingers, hands, and arms on a consistent basis for keyboarding and phone work; position requires the ability to talk and hear; position may need to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion; excellent vision skills (with or without correction) are required. The standard office environment has moderate noise levels associated with computer equipment, customers, and phone conversations.
