UPA High School Art Sculpting and Ceramics Teacher
The High School Art Teacher for Sculpture and Ceramics is responsible for designing and delivering engaging, standards-based instruction that fosters creativity, technical skill development, and artistic expression. This role emphasizes hands-on learning in three-dimensional art forms, including clay, mixed media, and sculptural design, while cultivating a safe, inclusive, and inspiring studio environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement a comprehensive curriculum in sculpture and ceramics aligned with state and district standardsTeach foundational and advanced techniques in hand-building, wheel-throwing, glazing, firing, and mixed-media sculptureManage and maintain the ceramics studio, including kilns, tools, and safety proceduresInstruct students in proper material use, studio safety, and cleanup protocolsAssess and evaluate student progress through projects, critiques, and portfolio developmentFoster creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving through project-based learningOrganize and support student exhibitions, showcases, and participation in art events or competitionsCollaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and school initiativesPartnerships & Resource Development:Actively develop and maintain partnerships with local businesses, arts organizations, and community stakeholders to secure donations, discounts, or sponsorships for art supplies and materialsSeek grant opportunities and external funding sources to enhance the sculpture and ceramics programCoordinate with partners to provide students with real-world exposure, such as guest artists, workshops, or field experiences
