Financial Controller

Position OverviewOur client is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the accounting function and ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial operations. This role serves as a key partner to executive leadership, responsible for delivering high-quality financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, optimizing accounting processes, and supporting strategic decision-making across a complex, operations-driven organization.The ideal candidate brings a combination of strong technical accounting expertise, leadership experience, and a hands-on approach to managing financial operations in a high-growth environment.ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team DevelopmentLead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Establish team goals and create scalable processes that support business growth.Promote professional development and operational excellence across the accounting function.Financial Reporting & CloseOversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.Provide financial reporting, analysis, and insights to executive leadership and key stakeholders.Review account reconciliations and maintain the integrity of the general ledger.Business Partnership & PlanningPartner with finance and operational leaders to support strategic initiatives and business performance.Provide accounting guidance and insights to support budgeting and forecasting activities.Assist in analyzing financial results and identifying opportunities for operational improvement.Controls, Compliance & Risk ManagementDesign, implement, and maintain effective internal controls.Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.Support risk mitigation initiatives and financial governance efforts.Systems & Process OptimizationIdentify and implement opportunities to automate and improve accounting processes.Oversee the management and optimization of financial systems and ERP platforms.Drive efficiency, scalability, and process standardization across accounting operations.Audit & TaxManage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.Coordinate annual audits and support the preparation of required documentation.Oversee corporate, sales, and use tax processes, ensuring timely and accurate filings.Growth & ScalabilityDevelop accounting policies and procedures that support a growing organization.Continuously improve accounting operations to meet evolving business needs.QualificationsRequiredBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Active CPA license required.7+ years of progressive accounting experience.3+ years of experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar leadership role.Experience in an e-commerce business required.Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.Experience leading accounting teams and managing close processes.Strong ERP and financial systems experience (NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.Proven ability to improve processes and drive operational efficiencies.Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and executive leadership.Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.PreferredExperience in a high-growth or private equity-backed organization.Experience supporting audits, tax compliance activities, and financial system implementations.CompensationPay Range: $175,000 - $225,000 annuallyBenefitsIf eligible under the ACA, medical, dental and vision benefits and time off in accordance with local paid sick time laws will be offered.
