Portfolio Company Controller Position SummaryA Crescent Peak portfolio company is seeking a highly capable Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of a fast-paced rapidly growing business. This individual will play a critical leadership role in managing financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, cash management, and operational accounting while supporting the company's long-term growth strategy.The position will initially be based out of our Grove City, PA office for approximately the first 3–4 months, before transitioning to our Pittsburgh, PA office thereafter. This role will also require approximately 20% travel to support operations, leadership collaboration, and portfolio initiatives.The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on—someone who can operate at a high level while also ensuring the day-to-day financial functions of the business are executed with accuracy and discipline.Importantly, this opportunity exists due to the planned retirement of the company's current Controller. Given our growth trajectory and operational goals, we view this role as a succession opportunity with the expectation that the successful candidate will grow into a Vice President of Finance position within the next two years.This role offers the opportunity to work closely with executive leadership and Crescent Peak leadership in helping build scalable financial processes, improve operational visibility, and support business performance across a growing platform.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management & ReportingOversee all accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and month-end closePrepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsMaintain financial reporting packages for executive leadership and ownershipManage cash flow forecasting, working capital, and banking relationshipsSupport budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processesEnsure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirementsOperational & Strategic SupportDevelop and improve financial controls, systems, and operational processesPartner with operations and leadership teams to analyze performance and drive decision-makingMonitor project/job costing, margins, and operational KPIs where applicableSupport audits, tax filings, and coordination with external accounting partnersIdentify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiencyAssist with strategic initiatives, acquisitions, integrations, and growth planning as neededLeadershipLead and develop accounting and administrative personnelFoster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvementMaintain confidentiality and integrity in all financial and operational mattersDevelop into a broader strategic finance leadership role supporting long-term company growth initiativesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldCPA preferred but not required5+ years of progressive accounting or finance leadership experienceExperience in construction, industrial, manufacturing, or project-based environments preferredStrong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and operational accountingExperience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash managementProficiency with accounting software and Microsoft ExcelStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skillsAbility to operate effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environmentWillingness to travel approximately 20% as neededLeadership mindset with the desire and capability to grow into an executive finance roleWhy Join UsAt Crescent Peak, we partner with businesses built on strong fundamentals, operational excellence, and long-term vision.
