Short Order Cook

Job Description Job OverviewHearth & Hug Bakery is expanding, and we want you to join our team! We are looking for a knowledgeable and hard-working individual to fill a short order cook role at our new Bakery/cafe space in Somerville. Cooks will be responsible for making a variety of breakfast and lunch dishes to order, including eggs, breakfast plates, sandwiches, and salads. Cooks will work closely with other back of house staff as well as the FOH to make creative, warm, homey dishes that make customers feel like they just sat down to eat at Grandma's house. The position also involves cooking prep work (with the assistance of a prep cook) to keep your station well stocked and ready for service. Pay for this position is $20/hr.Hours:**The hours for these positions are set. Candidates must be available for all of the hours listed**Tuesday-Saturday: Tues. 6:30 a.m.-3:00p.m., Weds-Fri. 6:30 a.m.-10:00a.m., Sat.7:30a.m.-4:00p.m.About Hearth & Hug:Hearth & Hug Bakery is a small, woman owned business that has been operating out of the Boston Public Market since 2023. Our goal is not just to make items that look/taste delicious, but to make everyone who walks in our door (staff included!) feel comfortable and happy. We are a small, but diverse team that enjoys talking, laughing, and most importantly: food!DutiesPrepare and cook breakfast and lunch items to order, per recipes given.Assist the owner with menu planning for seasonal/rotating dishes.Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation throughout the kitchen.Adapt dishes to meet customers' dietary restrictions/allergy needs.Collaborate with other BOH & FOH team members to keep the bakery running smoothly.Keep an organized inventory of ingredients and prepped items to assist management with food/paper good orders.Perform cleaning tasks at your station at the end of the day, and assist your fellow team members with closing duties.Experience/SkillsPrevious experience with working in food service/short order savory environment is required.Comfort with knife skills and large kitchen equipment such as griddles, fryers, and convection ovens.ServSafe Certification or extensive knowledge in food safety practices is required.Strong organizational skills.Ability to work calmly and efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.Positive attitude and the ability to work well with others in a small work environment.Company DescriptionHearth & Hug Bakery is a small, woman owned business that has been operating out of the Boston Public Market since 2023.
