Network EngineerHybridSilver Spring, MDSNI Technology has an immediate need for a Network Engineer to join a reputable and growing Media company in the greater Howard County, MD area!This is a Hybrid position with 3 days a week in office and 2 days Remote!This is an exciting opportunity for a Network Engineer to join an established yet growing team and have an immediate impact on the company’s infrastructure!The successful Network Engineer candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of the enterprise network infrastructure. This role combines traditional network engineering responsibilities with cybersecurity-focused operational support to ensure secure, reliable, and resilient network services across on-premises and cloud environments. The position requires hands-on experience with routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and network troubleshooting, along with an understanding of network security principles, monitoring, and secure access controls. The role also requires foundational knowledge of cloud networking and cloud security concepts.Responsibilities: Design, configure, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructureSupport routing, switching, wireless, and secure remote access technologies, including VPNsTroubleshoot network connectivity, latency, infrastructure, and hybrid cloud networking issuesConfigure and maintain firewalls, IDS/IPS, network segmentation, and access control solutionsSupport secure network design and implementation practices across on-premises and cloud environmentsSupport cloud networking configurations, secure connectivity, and access policies across cloud and on-premises environmentsSupport identity and access control concepts within cloud environmentsMonitor network performance, availability, capacity, and security eventsPerform network upgrades, patching, hardware/software maintenance, and change management activitiesMaintain network documentation, diagrams, and configuration standardsAssist with incident response, firewall rule reviews, network security audits, and vulnerability remediationSupport network hardening and operational reliability effortsCollaborate with cybersecurity, systems, and application teams to support infrastructure requirements and improve network security postureParticipate in network architecture, infrastructure modernization, and continuous improvement initiativesQualifications: Strong understanding of enterprise networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and switchingExperience in the design and configuration of Cisco and Meraki platformsExperience with firewalls, VPNs, NAC, IDS/IPS, and network security technologiesKnowledge of network monitoring and troubleshooting toolsUnderstanding of cybersecurity principles including least privilege, segmentation, and secure access controlsFamiliarity with AWS networking and security concepts including:VPCsSecurity GroupsNetwork ACLsIAM fundamentalsVPN and hybrid connectivityUnderstanding of network protocols and packet analysisFamiliarity with vulnerability management and network hardening practicesStrong troubleshooting and analytical skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and projectsEffective written and verbal communication skillsStrong attention to detail and operational reliabilityMay require after-hours maintenance, on-call support, and incident response participationPeriodic travel required
