Position SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and community-focused Prevention Specialist to support the implementation of our HIV and Prevention Services programs. This position works in partnership with the HIV/Prevention Services Manager to deliver high-quality preventive care, screenings, and education both on-site and in the community.The Prevention Specialist plays a critical role in expanding access to care by providing screenings through our Mobile Health Unit (MHU) and at community events. This role also supports patients in accessing PrEP services, improving medication adherence, and overcoming barriers to care.If you are passionate about preventative health, community outreach, and making a direct impact on public health outcomes, we encourage you to apply.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct comprehensive health assessments when appropriate, including vital signs and medical history collectionAdminister point-of-care HIV screenings and provide results with counselingPerform blood glucose, blood pressure, and BMI screeningsLink high-risk patients or individuals without a primary care provider to appropriate providers for further evaluation and treatmentProvide care management by assessing patient needs and addressing barriers to careAssist patients with appointment scheduling, updating contact information, and navigating healthcare concernsSupport PrEP inreach and outreach education initiativesAssist patients with securing PrEP, medication adherence, and retention in careMaintain accurate patient records, documentation, and required reportsComplete patient assessments in program database and document appropriately in the EHRMaintain sterilization, upkeep, and organization of the Mobile Health Unit clinical areaTravel to community events and outreach locations as requiredPerform additional duties as assignedQualificationsEducation & ExperienceGraduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program (Certification required)Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Clinical Medical Assistant preferredStrong clinical and administrative skills to ensure excellent patient care and efficient operationsValid Alabama Driver's License with insurable driving recordAbility to drive the Mobile Health UnitKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong understanding of community health issues and social determinants of healthAbility to deliver culturally sensitive and patient-centered careExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport across diverse populationsWillingness to work extensively in a mobile health setting and travel to community sitesBilingual in Spanish is a plus
