Job DescriptionWLKY, the CBS affiliate in Louisville, Kentucky has an opening for a Video Journalist/Photographer who understands the pressures and purpose of local television news. We are seeking an experienced video journalist who can collaborate and lead when collecting and editing visual elements for compelling storytelling on all WLKY platforms. You will be responsible for gathering visual content, working either individually to edit, or as a team to collaborate on newscast stories. We are looking for a news photographer who understands the urgency of breaking news, the importance of deadlines, and the critical elements of collaboration and communication when working with reporters. Excellent editing skills, exceptional time-management abilities, effective communication style, organization and attention to gear/equipment maintenance are critical. An excellent eye for video and the highest journalistic standards are a must. You will also edit video for digital and for newscasts as needed.ResponsibilitiesShoot and edit VOs, VO-SOTs, packages and vertical videos for broadcast and digital platformsWork with the Assignment Desk and Reporters to cover daily storiesShoot on a full-size Sony ENG cameraPreferred drone certification, open to becoming certified in drone operationEdit in Adobe Premiere and use ENG, SNG, and wireless data to feed live shots and video to stationWork with reporters and producers to ensure the best content and facts are gatheredWork with the digital team to make sure information, images, and video from the fields are transferred quickly.Work with catalog systems to record and locate necessary videoAttention to detail regarding file management and technical workflowMust be flexible with schedule, being on-call and respond quickly to breaking newsAbility to work under pressure, making quick decisionsResponsible for organization and care of gear/equipment and station vehiclesIn-person attendance is requiredRequirementsProfessional news video photographer experience preferredCarry up to 50 pounds of equipmentExperience with ENG trucks and live transmission gearCan work in all weather conditionsHave a valid driver's license and a clean driving recordAbility to operate digital editing toolsMust have computer and software experience; knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Precis, and CNN platformsCan organize and prioritizeHave and exhibit unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standardsCan deal with the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast productionRelated military experience will be consideredValues in ActionAt Hearst Television we tell stories every day.
