Job Description: We are searching for a highly skilled, trainable, and reliable person who has experience with Embroidery Machines and who understands some light sewing and alterations functions and terminology using industrial sewing machines.
An ES Production Generalist will be required to operate the embroidery side of production which will include setting up embroidery machines, selecting pertinent tools and materials, troubleshooting equipment, and ensuring that all projects are completed to clients' specifications. You will also be expected to carry out and provide creative advice.
You will operate a heat press machine to apply numbers, letters, or graphics to apparel and products, following instructions from job tickets carefully and accurately to ensure proper application of graphics to garments, asking questions if anything is unclear.
You will perform light uniform sewing, including some alternations, and embellishments with accuracy and efficiency.
You will perform light maintenance for your machines per machine manuals and be responsible for maintaining the supplies and product inventory for your area.
To be successful, you should have a good eye for detail and the ability to keep track of multiple work orders. Outstanding candidates will possess both analytical and artistic skills. This position requires an experienced person with a passion for the craft. Assistance in other areas may be assigned based on the business needs.
Responsibilities include: Analyzing and understanding project specifications and clients’ needs before starting each project.
Selecting the thread, fabric, hoops, colors, and designs appropriate to each project.
Setting up machines and supervising the process.
Carefully read instructional manuals to ensure smooth troubleshooting and repair processes.
Performing regular machine and inventory inspections and reporting on any issues and stock re-orders to your manager as required.
Providing suggestions regarding the design, placement, and fabric, color, and thread selection.
Drawing guides or pinning tissue paper patterns onto fabric.
Providing training and guidance to new staff.
Keeping track of work orders and updating records.
Communicating with internal or external clients and ensuring that all orders are sent out in a timely manner.
Be mindful of and flexible with hours as they may fluctuate seasonally based upon business need.
Greeting and interacting with customers and assisting in fittings needs
Take necessary measurements and mark garments for alterations with the ability to problem solve individual sizing issues.
Setup fitting schedules with customers and guarantee all alterations are completed on time.
Open-minded for review on the amount of work that needs to be re-done.
Perform uniform sewing, alternations, and embellishments with accuracy and efficiency to include taking up stride, lengthening/shortening tails on shirts, tapering shirts, adjusting waists, hemming trousers, mending tears, replacing zippers, applying patches, applying name strips, applying striping, and applying patches.
Record all work requiring embellishments, alterations to include specific instructions, to be maintained for future work requests.
Cutting out fabric using templates and rulers. Measure and mark alteration lines. Pin altering folds or mark on cloth at seam to indicate alterations in progress. Remove stitches from garment, using ripper or razor blade.
Altering garments using industrial sewing machines and hand sewing as directed by lead seamstress. Press, steam, and spot clean garments as necessary.
Repair defective merchandise. Remove spots or stains from merchandise.
Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked work area and inform Leaders when additional supplies are needed.
Follow quality control guidelines and inspect all garments to verify pristine condition before final delivery to the customer.
Contribute to a quality work environment as a team with other store and production employees. Helping organize and maintain workspace.
Qualifications:
Must have 3-5 years of embroidery experience. Experience with “Generations” software is preferred.
Must be able to comprehend, read, write and speak English instructions, for order requests, and interrupting manuals accurately.
Completion of a course in design or similar would be advantageous.
Experience preparing / verifying orders to make sure everything is noted and that we know what is needed for each order, including supplies.
Attention to detail and accountability is needed, asking questions about orders if anything was missing or not clear.
Have some experience with sewing/alterations/sizing preferred.
The ability to be flexible, multi-task, and work effectively in a team environment is required.
Impeccable organizational and communication skills are a must.
Proven customer service and problem-solving experience.
Excellent professionalism, verbal and written communication skills, good listening skills to determine specific needs and requests.
Knowledge of several types of embroidery production machines and alteration equipment.
Very good eyesight (with or without glasses).
On a regular basis, requires the ability to walk, reach with hands and arms, stand for a minimum of 6–8 hours, and lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.
Strong time management skills, including the abilities to multi-task and prioritize.
Computer and basic office software literacy is helpful.
Knowledge of or ability to learn all shipping processes and quality control processes.
Ability to commute/relocate at own expense.
