Solar Electrician III/C&I Lead

JOB SUMMARY: The Solar Electrician III is a licensed professional serving in a field management position
leading the electrical work on commercial solar projects. Good candidates will have 5+ years of
experience in the commercial and industrial electrical trades, preferably in leading roles, and a valid
electrical licensure. This is primarily a field-based position with a focus on job site execution, adhering to
existing processes, adhering to current National Electrical Code standards, and accepting direction from
site and project management. The position requires electrical contracting knowledge, experience
performing contracting work in the commercial sector, effective communication skills, strong
organizational skills, and a willingness to travel overnight. The Solar Electrician III will maintain a clean
work environment, plan balance of system components installation, and interact with clients. The
position involves supervisory responsibilities. Candidates must have or complete OSHA 30 certification
and OSHA 70E training before starting in the field. This position can evolve into other relevant positions
within Envinity such as Solar Designer I or II, Construction Manager, or Project Manager. Envinity will
train on the job and provide self-guided training opportunities.
GENERAL JOB TASKS
Lead the electrical installation of solar photovoltaic systems in accordance with codes and
company/industry standards using drawings, schematics, and instructions.
Provide onsite supervision of company approved subcontractors and electrical team members.
Coordinate and schedule residential code inspections, make required corrections promptly and
reschedule inspections as needed. Promptly submit permit paperwork back to Solar Permitting
Manager.
Prepare for upcoming jobs by reviewing project estimates and designs.
Coordinate with the warehouse manager to maintain inventory and have materials ready for
installation.
Conduct site visits to plan for upcoming installations.
Estimate labor and materials for select projects such as EV charging stations.
Provide onsite supervision of company approved subcontractors.
Install EV charging systems and home battery storage systems.
Adhere to daily/weekly schedules and budgets for project activities directed by the residential
operations manager.
Maintain Envinity standards of quality control, client communication and client satisfaction.
Extend a high-level service to our clients representing Envinity in a courteous, punctual, and
professional manner.
Be part of a friendly, communicative part of an installation team.
Utilize company provided communication tools.
Complete overhead tasks or other duties as assigned
Must follow company standards and practices, adhering to company safety policy, knowledge of
OSHA safety standards, and understand the importance of maintaining a clean job site and clean
vehicles.
Participate in site hazard reviews.
Follow established safety rules and regulations.
Report near misses and incidents to the site manager and complete incident report form.

SELECT SITE TASKS
The Solar Electrician III is expected to perform all the following as part of their role:
Follow current National Electrical Code state and local building regulations.
Complete quality assurance inspections, documenting corrective actions, and ensuring
completion of corrective items within reasonable timelines.
Place conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and
pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment,
or fixtures.
Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
Maintain or obtain current electrician's license or identification card to meet local governmental
regulations within first year of employment
Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job
specifications and local codes.
Assess electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures,
using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility
and safety of system.
Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand
tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need
for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment.
Inspect transformers and circuit breakers and other electrical components.
Repair and replace equipment, electrical wiring, or solar (PV) fixtures.
Identify solutions to resolve technical design problems, including electrical systems used during
construction.
Assemble solar modules, panels, or support structures, as specified.
Identify and resolve any deficiencies in photovoltaic system installation or materials.
Assist with programming, adjusting, or configuring inverters and controls for desired set points
and operating modes.
Determine materials, equipment, and installation sequences necessary to maximize installation
efficiency.
Assist in preparation for projects by loading vehicles, gathering inventory, maintaining tools, etc.
Assist in routine photovoltaic (PV) system maintenance on modules, arrays, batteries, power
conditioning equipment, safety systems, structural systems, weather sealing, or balance of
systems equipment.
Adhere to company and external requirements for documenting work on site (third party QC
checklists and Envinity project management software).
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Experience in the solar or electrical contracting industry.
Currently possess or can obtain Master Electrician licensure within the first year of employment.
OSHA 30 certification.
NFPA 70 E Certification.
NABCEP PV Installation Professional certification or can obtain it within the first year of
employment.
Expert understanding of electrical wiring, conduit sizing, and pipe bending.
High level of knowledge in building and electrical codes.
Ability to travel overnight on occasion.
Basic carpentry experience related to the electrical trades.
Ability to read and understand electrical and structural plans and interpret field layouts.
Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and
moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of
materials.
Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit or moving or lifting
heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.).
Comfortable working at heights and on ladders.
Experience running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment.
Must be committed to safe working practices, adhering to company safety policy, knowledge of
OSHA safety standards, and understand the importance of maintaining a clean job site and clean
vehicles.
