OverviewJob PurposeThe Infrastructure Solutions Architecture (ISA) group at Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) is a cross-disciplined team that takes a full stack view on solution development. This team participates in the definition of high-level functional and non-functional requirements, analyzes technical trade-offs, decomposes major components and subsystems, and helps define the interfaces, collaborations, and dependencies between them.The role of an ISA Lead Engineer is responsible for accelerating innovation and fostering broader awareness and adoption of disruptive and differentiating technologies.The ISA team has the expertise to shape ground-breaking business products, material, and processes across the entire portfolio at ICE. The architects lead technology investigations and recommend solutions based on what they learn and foster understanding of our capabilities. Our insights influence product architecture and definitions. In cooperation with leadership, the ISA team plays a critical role to align teams in a common technical direction at ICE. This team represents a key element of the ICE technology governance process and embodies our goals for maintaining a high degree of standardization and quality in everything we do.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and define infrastructure standards along with reusable reference architecture patternsResponsible for alignment with perimeter security architecture and design standards with business strategy, service delivery, and client and vendor relationshipsFocus developing resilient infrastructure solutions with a focus on scalability, reliability, availability, performance, and securityOversee the upkeep and consistency of our standards as expressed in Global Design Specifications annuallyPartner closely with ISA Innovation and ISA Assurance teams to ensure they are aware of efforts underway to help maintain a feedback loop regarding new business requirements and challenges we have encounteredMaintain continued knowledge of the business and IT architecture principles to identify and evaluate alternatives solutionsHelp identify gaps in current enterprise guiding principles and policiesReview plans, processes, and strategies to identify areas for improvement or updateCreate/update Enterprise Architecture Guidance in the form of Design Patterns, Standards, and Implementation GuidesPartner closely with ICE Enterprise PMO to ensure solutions can be delivered on time and within budgetCreate diagrams and documentation with all components that comprise IT systems including network topology with security measures and vulnerabilitiesAnalyze IT specifications to assess security risksDesign and implement safety measures and data recovery plansWork closely with subject matter experts to develop and deliver complete architecture solutionsProvide governance recommendations for all existing cloud services and methodologiesEnsure that all logging and monitoring concerns are well understood and implemented according to regulationsMaintain continued education and certification in the relevant areas of expertise required of this roleKnowledge And ExperienceBachelor’s, master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, applied sciences or a related fieldExtensive background in designing infrastructure architectures for global enterprisesPrevious experience working in System Architecture or EngineeringExperience with current generation workload hosting frameworks – RunAI, K8, RedHat OpenShift, ProxmoxPrevious experience with automation leveraging Ansible, Terraform or equivalent technologyPrevious experience working in a low-latency environment, such as the financial industry. Good knowledge of server operating systems and their TCP/IP stacks, Linux, and WindowsDemonstrated technical expertise and acumen of 5+ years in specialty fields (Systems – HW/OS, Storage, Security, Networking – L2/L3, Cloud (AWS / Azure / GCP)Maintain strong hands-on technical expertise to facilitate proof of concept evaluations and foster collaboration with engineering teamsExperience in establishing and enforcing standards and practicesAbility to resolve complex issues in creative, efficient, and effective waysKnowledgeable of architecture frameworks such as TOGAF/ITILHas experience in developing enterprise security design patterns, standards, and guidelinesStrong familiarity with networking, virtualization, and general IT systemsBroad knowledge of core information security principles, such as access control, least privilege and data integrity, along with security capabilitiesProgramming/Scripting Languages: Python, Perl, PowerShellKnowledge of a product technology and system level integrationPrevious experience in the domains of identity, authentication, and information securityIndustry certification preferred (CISSP, CISA, GIAC, CCSP, Cloud provider certifications)Technical security certifications are not required but considered an asset, such as CISSP, GCIH, GCIA, GCFA, GPEN, GCFE, CCNA, CCNPExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to conduct presentations to peers, cross- functional teams and director level of leadershipExperience in a DevSecOps environmentUnderstanding/Knowledge of global security frameworks and standards, such as NIST, CIS, FIPSIllinois Base Salary RangeThe expected base salary for this role, if located in Illinois, is between $133,900 – $154,500 USD. The base salary range does not include Intercontinental Exchange’s incentive compensation. While we provide this range as general guidance, at ICE we compensate employees based on the skillset and experience of the individual.
