Rental Operations Assistant (Contractor)

About the RoleWe are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Rental Operations Assistant (Contractor) to support our growing nationwide container rental operations. This role serves as a key coordination point between customers, partners, and internal teams—ensuring smooth execution of deliveries, pickups, and ongoing rentals. Compensation$27 – $32 per hour, depending on experience. This is a 1099 independent contractor position.Key Responsibilities• Serve as the first point of contact by answering incoming calls for rental and sales inquiries• Confirm service availability and provide pre-determined pricing to customers• Monitor shared inboxes and respond to routine inquiries and service issues• Screen rental requests and source pricing from established vendor network• Enter purchase order (PO) data into Salesforce• Prepare delivery and pickup forms, along with site maps for each job• Draft and send standardized confirmation emails with job-specific details• Collect delivery/pickup forms and site photos; follow up with partners as needed• Track and report container serial numbers• Process, pay, and file vendor invoices• Maintain accurate records of container pickup dates in Salesforce• Proactively follow up with vendors to ensure timely pickups• Assist with customer service troubleshooting and escalate issues when neededPreferred Qualifications• Strong organizational and multitasking skills• Excellent written and verbal communication• Comfortable working with spreadsheets, email, and CRM systems (Salesforce preferred)• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment• Prior experience in operations, logistics, or customer service is a plusSchedule & Availability• Expected to provide ongoing operational support averaging 15–25 hours per week• Contractor is responsible for managing their own schedule and workflow to meet service needs• Work includes supporting inbound calls and email activity during business hours, with an emphasis on maintaining responsiveness during morning hours (typically 8:00–10:00 AM EST)• This is a primarily remote contract, with initial onboarding in person, as mutually agreed. • Candidates located near Charleston, SC or Boulder, CO are preferred.Why Stellar• Join Stellar Storage Containers — a trusted, industry-leading provider with units deployed worldwide and 15 years of recognition as an Inside Self-Storage® Best of Business winner• Be part of a fast-growing national rental program supporting businesses across industries, with a relationship-driven, personalized, hands-on approach• Opportunity for consistent, ongoing contract work
