This intensity of collaboration is challenging as well as exciting: we're always evolving, learning from each other, and seeking to improve.Job DescriptionTHE OPPORTUNITYAvenues is seeking a Part-Time Learning Specialist (3 days per week) to join the team of inspiring educators in the Upper Division, grades 6-12. The Learning Specialist will ensure that students have the skills and support they need to be successful.ResponsibilitiesThe Learning Specialist's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Student SupportSupport, supplement, and extend classroom literacy, math, and writing instruction using research based methodsCreate learning plans for students and support teachers to implement these plansAdminister, score and analyze informal assessmentsProvide short-term interventions and support around executive functioning and study skills for studentsCollaborationWork in partnership with other members of the Student Success Team, classroom teachers, and divisional leadership to ensure that each student's academic skills are progressingCreate and maintain clear systems of communication between home, school, and any outside providers in order to support student successQualificationsWHAT YOU BRINGSuperb ability as a teacher with more than 5 years of experienceDeep understanding of how students learnExpertise in understanding assessments to help us understand students and make recommendationsProfound commitment to ensuring and nurturing children's wellbeingHighly effective collaborator, eager to listen deeply, contribute to a team and achieve goals togetherDedication to learning and developing the craft of teachingStrong communication skills - with families, students, and colleaguesVery resourceful and adaptive, eager to embrace constant change, growth and learningBachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferredProfessional fluency in English requiredELL and/or Special Education background preferred but not requiredAdditional InformationIf hired for this position, the annual salary range is between $70,000 - $115,000. The salary may vary depending on your professional experience and skills.
