Embedded Software Engineer
Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesFirmware design and development for microcontroller-based products (bare-metal and RTOS)Write and review device drivers, board support packages, and hardware abstraction layersBring up new hardware: board bring-up, peripheral configuration, and debugging alongside EEAssist in creating technical specifications from high-level customer requirementsBuild and debug from individual boards to production-intent productsDesign and implement debugging, verification, and validation test procedures for the firmware you developEducation and ExperienceMinimum 2 years of experience in embedded software or firmware developmentBachelor's Degree in EE/CE/CS/EET/CET preferred, or equivalent experienceConsumer, automotive, industrial, or medical product development experience a plusRequired SkillsProficiency in embedded C and/or C++Experience developing firmware for common MCU families (e.g., ARM Cortex-M, ESP32, STM32, PIC, or similar)Familiarity with hardware-level communications such as USB, CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, etc.Comfortable reading schematics and datasheets and working directly with hardwareExperience debugging with tools such as Segger (J-Link/Ozone), logic analyzers, and oscilloscopesExperience with software tools such as GitAbility to work in a fast-paced environment, on multiple projects simultaneouslyStrong organizational skills and attention to detailDesired Skills4+ years of embedded/firmware product development experienceRTOS experience (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, ThreadX, or similar)Experience with wireless protocols and stacks such as Bluetooth/BLE, Zigbee, LoRa, LTE, WiFi, etc.Experience with smart home / IoT connectivity standards such as Thread, Matter, and Apple HomeKitBootloader and OTA/firmware-update developmentLow-power design and power optimization for battery-operated productsExperience with motor control or motion applicationsFamiliarity with regulatory certification and testing (FCC, CE, UL)Exposure to hardware design or PCB layout (Altium Designer)Basic hand soldering skills for rework and debug (0402, QFN)Experience taking a product through manufacturing and compliance testingLocation & Work AuthorizationThis is a fully remote position open to candidates located anywhere in the United States.
