Gameplay Engineer (Fixed Term)
Overview
Gameplay Engineer to deepen animation systems and player movement for our next project. This is a six‑month fixed‑term full‑time position. Remote work is open to candidates in the United States or Canada, though preference is given to those willing to relocate or live locally. The role reports to the Gameplay Technical Director.
Responsibilities
Architect gameplay systems that are pragmatic, performant, and fun.
Work with the Technical Director to develop strategies and processes that support engineering initiatives.
Collaborate with other development units in a distributed studio environment.
Develop in both native C++ and UE4 Blueprints.
Openly communicate with management and production about the scope and progress of tasks.
Proactively support the success of other team members by providing technical guidance, participating in code reviews, and mentoring junior team members.
A Typical Day May Include
Attend a cross‑discipline stand‑up with other developers.
Code and test as part of development.
Participate in a studio‑wide play test.
Review code changes from other engineers.
Discuss ideas, improvements, or issues with other engineers, designers, and artists.
Provide support to other engineers via paired programming.
Qualifications
Passion for games and gaming.
Demonstrable experience writing gameplay code in a AAA development environment.
Expertise in at least one of the following areas (preferred): AI, Animation, Multiplayer, Physics, UI, Analytics, etc.
Ability to push features forward in a collaborative and iterative way.
Excellent knowledge of C++.
Strong 3D math skills.
Strong communication skills.
Experience with client and server‑side networking.
