This role is ideal for a certified technician who can work independently, serve as a resource to others, and ensure compliance with infection control and sterilization standards.Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment are properly cleaned, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, and distributedOperate, monitor, and troubleshoot sterilizers, washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, cart washers, and heat sealersAssemble instrument trays using established recipes; inspect instruments for cleanliness and functionSelect appropriate sterilization methods and document sterilization loads and biological testingSafely handle biohazardous materials, linen, and waste while maintaining environmental standardsTrack, retrieve, and distribute medical and surgical supplies in a timely mannerServe as a resource and trainer for Central Processing customers and team membersMaintain inventory by ordering, receiving, stocking, rotating, and monitoring usageTransport patients to and from the OR and PACU as neededApply current infection prevention and control practicesComplete 10 Continuing Education Credits (CECs) annually per NYS requirementsMaintain accurate documentation and comply with all policies and proceduresQualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED requiredCRCST or CSPDT certification required(or grandfathered per NYS guidelines – one year of service between Jan 2011–Jan 2015)Previous Central Supply or OR instrument processing experience preferredFamiliarity with medical and surgical equipment preferredAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionStrong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safetyAbility to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbalWork EnvironmentExposure to chemicals and sterilization agents per safety guidelinesRequires continuous operation of department equipmentAbility to lift, transport, and handle heavy objectsProlonged standing and concentration requiredFast‑paced clinical environment with frequent multitaskingCompensation & BenefitsPay Range: $56,500 – $71,300 annually (FT equivalent; prorated for per diem)Competitive compensation based on experience and credentialsOpportunity to work within a high‑acuity hospital environmentHow to ApplyQualified candidates are encouraged to apply.All applications are handled confidentially.About Medical Solutions Direct HireAt Medical Solutions, we're people who care, helping people who care.
