With approximately 18,000 employees, Clarios develops, manufactures, distributes, recycles, and reuses battery materials while advancing sustainable transportation solutions.The Middletown, Delaware facility operates a high-volume distribution center supporting the charging, packaging, and shipment of batteries for cars, boats, and heavy-duty vehicles.About the RoleClarios is seeking a Manufacturing Controls Engineer – Night Shift to provide hands-on engineering support within its Middletown Distribution Center. This position serves as the primary engineering resource during the overnight shift, working closely with maintenance technicians and production teams.The role focuses on PLC troubleshooting, automation, electrical and mechanical systems, equipment reliability, downtime reduction, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.The schedule is 6:00 PM–6:00 AM on a 2-2-3 rotating schedule.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the lead engineering support during the assigned night shift.Troubleshoot PLC, electrical, mechanical, and automation-related production issues.Diagnose and resolve manufacturing interruptions quickly to minimize downtime.Perform PLC troubleshooting and minor programming modifications.Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement sustainable corrective actions.Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on uptime, reliability, quality, and process efficiency.Collaborate with maintenance technicians and production teams to maintain safe and reliable operations.Support equipment performance and manufacturing process optimization.Apply structured problem-solving techniques to recurring operational issues.Follow all plant safety requirements and operational procedures.Benefits & PerksMedical, dental, and vision coverage beginning on the date of hire.401(k) savings plan with company matching.Tuition reimbursement.Paid time off and flexible spending options.Parental and caregiver leave programs.Short- and long-term disability coverage.Basic life insurance.Employee Assistance Program.Employee perks and discounts.Opportunities for professional growth within a global organization.Supportive environment for veterans and military spouses.Basic QualificationsHands-on experience with PLC troubleshooting and basic programming modifications.Strong electrical, mechanical, and automation troubleshooting abilities.Ability to work independently as the primary engineer on a shift.Ability to support manufacturing operations in real time.Ability to work the required 2-2-3 night-shift schedule.Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employment-based visa sponsorship.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering, with 2+ years of manufacturing support experience, or equivalent hands-on experience.Experience in battery manufacturing or other high-volume industrial environments.Robotics troubleshooting and diagnostic experience.Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, root-cause analysis, or other continuous improvement methodologies.Experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment.Equal Opportunity StatementClarios is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to building an inclusive workplace.
