Application Development Manager

The Application Development Manager will lead the design, delivery, and quality of our custom software applications. This role owns the application development lifecycle, engineering standards, and cross-functional delivery across product and business teams.This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll set technical direction and delivery strategy, but you're also comfortable diving into architecture, code review, and hands-on problem-solving when needed.The base salary range for this role is $120,000– $160,000 salary. This position is eligible for a discretionary performance-based bonus. The exact bonus is not guaranteed and will vary based on individual performance, team results, and company performance. Actual pay will be determined by factors such as education, experience, and job-related skills relevant to the role. These ranges may not reflect potential compensation for positions based in other states or regions.This position is fully remote.Key ResponsibilitiesApplication Development & ArchitectureOwn the architecture, design, and delivery of custom applications, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performanceEstablish and enforce coding standards, design patterns, and application architecture best practicesGuide technology and framework decisions across the application portfolio (e.g., .NET, Node.js, React, or similar)Oversee application security practices, including secure coding standards, code review, and vulnerability remediationEnsure applications meet performance, reliability, and accessibility requirementsDelivery & Engineering PracticesLead the software development lifecycle (SDLC) from requirements through deployment and supportDrive Agile/Scrum delivery practices, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release managementPartner with QA and DevOps teams to ensure robust testing, CI/CD integration, and reliable releasesOwn application quality, technical debt management, and code review standardsEstablish metrics and reporting to track delivery velocity, quality, and application healthStakeholder & Product CollaborationPartner with product owners and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutionsOwn the application roadmap in partnership with product management, balancing new features, technical debt, and platform stabilityCollaborate with Integrations, Data, and Infrastructure teams to ensure applications interoperate cleanly across the technology ecosystemSet standards for API design, data handling, and system interoperability as they relate to application developmentLeadership & CollaborationManage, mentor, and develop application development engineersEstablish team processes, documentation, and engineering operational standardsCollaborate with teams to improve development, testing, and release workflowsPartner with Security and Compliance teams to meet organizational and regulatory requirementsCommunicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholdersRequirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience7+ years of experience in application/software development, with 3+ years in a leadership or management roleStrong hands-on background in one or more modern application stacks (e.g., .NET/C#, Node.js, React, Angular)Proven experience owning application architecture and technical decision-making for business-critical systemsExperience with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and API design/integration patternsFamiliarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and CI/CD-driven delivery pipelinesStrong understanding of Agile/Scrum delivery methodologiesExcellent leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional communication skillsExperience working within regulated or audit-driven environments (e.g., SOX) is a plusBenefitsMarcus & Millichap offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employees’ health, well-being, and financial security.
