SummaryWe are partnering with a growing Minnesota manufacturer of custom engine exhaust systems for critical environments. Their company employs 130 people, up from 25 three years ago, is privately held, profitable, and recently added a second facility to support continued growth. They are beginning development of a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) product line, developed in-house from the ground up. This is a standalone development effort, not an extension of an existing product. The engineers hired now will shape it from first sketch to commercial product. The PositionAn SCR system is only as good as its controls. You will design and build the control systems that run the SCR: reductant dosing control, NOx sensing and feedback, temperature management, diagnostics, alarms, and integration with engine and facility control systems. You will own the controls architecture from development through commercialization, working as part of a small product team with mechanical and chemical engineers. The role starts hands-on and technical and grows into full development ownership..Key Responsibilities/ExpectationsDesign the control architecture for SCR systems: PLC/controller selection, I/O, sensor strategy, dosing control loopsProgram PLCs and develop HMIs for dosing control, monitoring, and diagnosticsDevelop and tune closed-loop NOx reduction control with real sensor feedbackBuild diagnostics, fault handling, and operator interfaces appropriate for critical-power environmentsDefine integration with engine controls, BMS/SCADA, and customer monitoring systemsSupport commissioning, field testing, and early installationsMake the controls package repeatable and production-ready, not one-offQualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls, Mechatronics, or equivalent5+ years of experience in controls for emissions aftertreatment, SCR systems, engine/genset controls, or closely related industrial process controlHands-on PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley/Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal, or equivalent), HMI development, and integration over Modbus, BACnet, or CAN/J1939Experience taking control systems from prototype to a supported commercial productWillingness to speak up.
