Microsoft Infrastructure Architect/Engineer

*******************THIS IS NOT A REMOTE ROLE/ MUST RESIDE IN MN******************************We are seeking a Principal Windows & Messaging Infrastructure Architect to provide technical leadership for a large-scale Microsoft infrastructure environment. This role will own the architecture, strategy, and modernization of Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Exchange Online environments while helping drive the organization's long-term infrastructure roadmap.The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in enterprise Windows infrastructure, hybrid Microsoft environments, and Exchange Online administration and architecture. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to infrastructure, security, and technology leadership teams.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the architecture and strategic direction of enterprise Windows Server environments.Serve as the subject matter expert for Exchange Online and Microsoft 365 messaging services.Design, manage, and optimize hybrid Microsoft environments integrating on-premises infrastructure with cloud-based services.Develop and maintain architecture standards for Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and identity management.Lead Exchange Online initiatives including migrations, tenant administration, mail flow design, security, compliance, and lifecycle management.Partner with security teams to implement messaging security controls, retention policies, and compliance requirements.Evaluate infrastructure modernization opportunities and develop technical roadmaps.Provide technical leadership and mentorship to systems and infrastructure engineers.Assist with major incident resolution, root cause analysis, and infrastructure governance.Required Qualifications10+ years of experience in Microsoft infrastructure engineering or architecture roles.Expert-level experience with Windows Server environments.Deep experience with Exchange Online administration, architecture, and support.Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 services and cloud-based messaging platforms.Extensive experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity services.Experience supporting hybrid Exchange and Microsoft 365 environments.Strong PowerShell scripting and automation capabilities.Experience designing highly available, secure, and scalable enterprise infrastructure solutions.Preferred QualificationsMicrosoft Entra ID (Azure AD)Exchange migrations and modernization initiativesMicrosoft Defender for Office 365Email security, compliance, retention, and governanceVMware and/or Hyper-VAzure infrastructure servicesEnterprise backup and disaster recovery platforms
