Platform Reliability Engineer

Overview As the primary technical owner of our database, middleware, and web platform ecosystem, you ensure reliable, secure production systems that power operations and customer-facing apps. You will partner with IT leadership to modernize legacy footprints while building a scalable AI-enabled platform. The role involves hands-on platform stewardship, incident leadership, and driving improvements across the stack to support enterprise AI capabilities. You’ll shape the platform roadmap and elevate operational excellence to enable secure, high-availability services. ResponsibilitiesAdminister and monitor enterprise database, middleware, and web platform systems daily; triage errors and alertsManage and maintain scheduled automation (SQL Agent, Linux cron, payroll loads)Deploy and maintain apps across WebSphere (WAS), OpenLiberty, and Apache/PHP environmentsPatch Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server at OS and app levelsOwn SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle across web servers, keystores, and app serversManage DNS records and domain registrations across registrarsSupport vulnerability management (Tenable, Bitsight) and remediation SLAServe as primary on-call escalation for production outages across stackDiagnose and resolve failures end-to-end (network → web → app → database)Tune database queries, batch processes, and jobs for performance and reliability (SQL Server)Maintain and support middleware integrations (ETL pipelines, API connections)Support operational platform layer for MuleSoft deployments and dependenciesEvaluate and lead migration of legacy scheduling toward enterprise platformsIdentify modernization candidates and advocate for retirement when appropriateIntroduce configuration-as-code to replace manual configSupport design and operation of enterprise AI platform including self-hosted LLMs, vector stores, RAG pipelinesParticipate in design reviews to ensure performance, security, and scalabilityMaintain runbooks, diagrams, credential inventories, and operational playbooks Key requirementsProven production experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments (SSIS, SQL Agent, linked servers, T-SQL)Ability to tune and optimize SQL queries, SSIS packages, and batch processesLinux/RHEL systems administration (shell scripting, cron, patching, Apache/PHP)End-to-end SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle management across web servers and Java keystoresDNS management and registrar relationships in an enterprise settingIBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) administrationOpenLDAP directory administration including load balancer config and clusteringWindows Server administration (SQL Agent, RDP, OS operations)PowerShell and/or Bash scripting for automationSystematic incident diagnosis across a multi-tier stackIBM WebSphere WAS administrationOpenLDAP directory servicesSQL Server with SSIS/SSRS/SQL AgentLinux/RHEL administrationApache/PHP stack operationsSSL/TLS certificate lifecycle management
