Paving Laborer

PAVING LABORER M.T. Laney Co. Inc. is an established successful construction firm located in Eldersburg, MD. We are searching for an experienced, committed, career minded Paving Laborers to be part of our growing team to work in the Baltimore/Washington area.The ideal candidate will be a team player who is highly motivated with a strong work ethic and desires to be part of a skilled construction team.RESPONSIBILITIES:General laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching or prep crewsSignal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of equipment and materials.Ability to shovel, rake and handle other small toolsCleans and prepares construction site to eliminate possible hazardsMeasure, mark, or record openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performedTend pumps, compressors, or generators to provide power for tools, machinery, or equipment or to heat or move materialsAssist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devicesAbility to assist with the loading and unloading of equipment and materialsAssist with equipment cleanup as neededOperate assigned equipment in compliance with the company's operating safety policies and proceduresPerforms other related duties as assignedESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to understand verbal ordersKnowledge of construction knowledge as well as safety standardsMust comply with municipality requirements, specifications, safety standards and company policiesKeen attention to detail and awareness to maintain the safety of the work environmentAbility to work well with othersReliable transportationSALARY/HOURLY EXEMPTION:Full-Time, Non-Exempt PositionSalary based on knowledge and experienceWORKING CONDITIONS:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions that can include extreme cold, heat and muddy conditionsWork environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction projectUse of Personal Protection Equipment is requiredWORKING HOURS/EXPECTATIONS:Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments as requiredPHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch on all different types of terrain.Frequent bending, twisting and standingThe employee is also regularly required to talk, hear, or smell as well as use hands to finger, handle, or feel.The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to75 pounds on occasionsMust be able to sit for prolonged amounts of timeMust be able to pass a Drug ScreenEDUCATION:High school or equivalent is preferredLICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS:Valid Driver License preferredNON-ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:EXPERIENCE:Minimum of 1-year of laborer experience preferredBENEFITS:M.T.
