Job Title: Staff AccountantLocation: Dallas, TXJob Type: Full-TimePosition SummaryWe're looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Staff Accountant who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes ownership of their work. This role is ideal for a self-starter who can operate independently while collaborating across teams to support financial accuracy and operational success.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain the general ledger, including preparing and posting journal entries to ensure accurate cost allocation by community, phase, lot, and homeReconcile bank accounts, escrow accounts, and credit cards to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial recordsTrack and analyze construction costs, including backlog margin reporting and variance analysis against budgetsAssist in preparing monthly financial statements and supporting schedules, including community- and project-level reportingManage the weekly accounts payable cycle, ensuring proper coding, approvals, and timely vendor paymentsMaintain accurate vendor records in compliance with company policies and contract termsSupport home closing activities by coordinating with sales, escrow, and title partners to ensure accurate financial recordingAssist with internal and external audits and help maintain strong internal controls and compliance standardsCollaborate with construction, purchasing, land development, sales, and finance teams to resolve accounting issues and improve processesPreferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field (or equivalent experience)Experience in construction or real estate accounting **requiredFamiliarity with job cost accounting systems and ERP platforms (e.g., BRIX, BuildPro, JD Edwards, or similar)Advanced Excel skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysisWorking knowledge of GAAP, including percentage-of-completion and completed-contract methodsStrong attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume work under tight deadlinesAnalytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data and trendsExcellent communication skills and ability to partner with cross-functional teamsStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
