Our manufacturing approach emphasizes quality workmanship, disciplined assembly practices, accurate documentation, reliable equipment performance, and continuous improvement.Position SummaryThe Electrical Assembler supports the assembly, soldering, inspection, testing, and repair of electronic and electrical components used in selected Spartanics machine systems. This hands-on role works with printed circuit boards (PCBs), motherboards, connectors, wiring, transistors, diodes, capacitors, resistors, and related electronic components. Success requires precise workmanship, strong soldering skills, attention to detail, accurate interpretation of drawings and documentation, and the ability to work independently while supporting Engineering and Manufacturing.Essential Duties and Responsibilities• Assemble electronic and electrical components, printed circuit boards, wire harnesses, control boards, wiring, connectors, cable assemblies, and related subassemblies used in Spartanics machinery.• Perform precision soldering of through-hole and surface-mount (SMD/SMT) components, including resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, connectors, integrated circuits, and other electronic devices.• Operate temperature-controlled soldering stations, hot-air rework equipment, desoldering tools, magnification equipment, and other electronic-assembly tools safely and effectively.• Perform component removal, replacement, rework, and repair of printed circuit boards as required; inspect solder joints, component orientation, polarity, placement, and workmanship for defects.• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, PCB documentation, bills of material, assembly drawings, work instructions, and engineering documentation.• Build and terminate wiring, connectors, terminals, and cable assemblies; use wire strippers, crimpers, multimeters, continuity testers, and other appropriate electrical assembly and test equipment.• Perform basic continuity, resistance, voltage, and functional checks according to established work instructions and escalate technical or quality issues to qualified personnel.• Follow proper ESD protection and component-handling procedures when working with sensitive electronic components and circuit boards.• Access drawings, models, specifications, and assembly documentation using Onshape, AutoCAD, eDrawings, SharePoint, and company ERP systems.• Maintain accurate production, assembly, rework, inspection, material-use, and ERP documentation; identify damaged, incorrect, missing, or nonconforming components promptly.• Maintain organized electronic components, tools, soldering equipment, workstations, and assembly areas in accordance with 5S and company safety expectations.• Work collaboratively with Engineering, Controls, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Quality personnel to resolve assembly or documentation issues and support additional electrical or machine assembly as needed.Measures of Success• Electronic assemblies are completed accurately and consistently according to engineering documentation and production requirements.• Solder joints and component installations meet professional workmanship expectations with minimal defects, rework, polarity errors, or placement issues.• PCB assemblies and electrical subassemblies pass inspection and functional checks with accurate production and material documentation.• Assembly problems and documentation discrepancies are identified early, communicated effectively, and resolved while work areas remain safe, clean, and organized.Required Qualifications• Minimum three years of hands-on experience in electronic assembly, PCB assembly, electrical assembly, electronics manufacturing, machine building, or a closely related environment.• Demonstrated experience soldering both through-hole and surface-mount (SMD/SMT) electronic components using professional soldering stations and related rework equipment.• Ability to produce clean, consistent, reliable solder joints and recognize common soldering defects, incorrect component placement, polarity errors, and damaged components.• Familiarity with electronic components including resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, integrated circuits, connectors, printed circuit boards, and related hardware.• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, assembly drawings, bills of material, work instructions, part numbers, and technical documentation.• Experience using basic electrical test equipment such as multimeters and continuity testers, and knowledge of proper ESD handling practices for sensitive electronics.• Strong manual dexterity, visual attention, patience, and a meticulous work ethic suitable for precise and repetitive electronic assembly involving small components.• Basic computer proficiency and ability to use or learn Onshape, AutoCAD, eDrawings, SharePoint, ERP software, and other electronic manufacturing documentation systems.Preferred Qualifications• Technical, vocational, electronics, electrical, or mechatronics education or formal soldering training.• Familiarity with IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, or comparable electronic soldering and workmanship standards; current or previous IPC certification is a plus.• Experience performing PCB inspection, troubleshooting, component replacement, electronic rework, and fine-pitch SMD work under magnification.• Experience building or repairing cable assemblies, connectors, terminals, wiring harnesses, or electronic assemblies for industrial machinery, OEM equipment, automation, or control systems.• Experience with manufacturing ERP/MRP systems and familiarity with Lean manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and continuous-improvement practices.Work ScheduleStandard working hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM based on the assigned schedule. Overtime may be required based on production requirements, machine-build schedules, customer commitments, inventory activities, or other business needs.Physical Requirements and Work EnvironmentWork is performed primarily in an active manufacturing and electronic-assembly environment. The position requires extended periods of sitting or standing while performing detailed soldering and assembly work; regular use of hands and fingers to handle small components, tools, wiring, and precision assemblies; and sufficient visual acuity, with corrective lenses if necessary, to inspect component markings, PCB features, and solder joints. The position may also require standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting or moving items up to approximately 50 pounds independently. Work may occur around soldering equipment, electrical systems, industrial machinery, and production equipment.
