Second Shift Supervisor

The Second Shift Clinic Supervisor is responsible for supervising custodial services staff across multiple clinic locations during evening hours. This role ensures clinics are clean, safe, compliant, and prepared for next-day operations. The supervisor serves as the primary leadership contact for custodial staff during second shift and oversees cleaning schedules, infection control standards, supply management, and staff performance in the absence of senior management. Key Responsibilities Supervise second-shift custodial staff across assigned clinic locations Ensure all clinics meet cleanliness, sanitation, and infection control standards Oversee daily and periodic cleaning tasks, including exam rooms, restrooms, lobbies, break areas, and offices Respond to urgent cleaning needs, spills, and after-hours requests Staff Supervision & Scheduling Assign and monitor custodial workloads to ensure coverage at each location Coordinate staffing adjustments due to absences, call-offs, or increased workload Provide hands-on guidance, coaching, and performance feedback Train new custodial staff on cleaning protocols, equipment use, and safety procedures Enforce attendance, timekeeping, and workplace conduct standards Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with healthcare cleanliness standards, OSHA requirements, and organizational policies Monitor proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and cleaning chemicals Conduct regular walkthroughs to identify safety hazards or deficiencies Document and report incidents, injuries, or safety concerns per policy Quality Control & Inspections Perform quality checks to verify cleaning effectiveness at each clinic Address deficiencies promptly and ensure corrective actions are completed Support audits, inspections, and readiness for regulatory reviews Supplies & Equipment Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment Report supply needs, shortages, or equipment maintenance issues Ensure proper storage and labeling of chemicals Communication & Reporting Serve as the primary point of contact for custodial staff during second shift Communicate facility issues to clinic or facilities leadership Provide end-of-shift reports or handoff notes regarding completed work and outstanding issues Coordinate with first-shift supervisors to ensure continuity of services Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent 2–3 years of custodial or facilities experience, preferably in a healthcare setting Prior lead or supervisory experience Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety procedures Ability to work independently and make sound decisions during evening hours Reliable transportation for travel between clinic locations if required Preferred Experience in healthcare environmental services Familiarity with infection prevention standards Bilingual skills (as applicable to workforce) Physical & Work Requirements Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs.)
