3rd Shift Machine Shop Supervisor
Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented 3rd Shift Machine Shop Supervisor to train and lead our manufacturing team during overnight hours. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily operations within the machine shop and train new CNC Operators.
Duties
Supervise and coordinate the activities of machine operators, machinists, and fabrication staff working during the third shift
Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of CNC machines and other fabrication tools like press brake machines and welding equipment to maintain optimal performance.
Train new and existing operators on machine operation, safety procedures, tooling setup, quality control measures, and best practices in machining.
Implement quality control protocols using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other mechanical gauges to verify dimensional accuracy.
Assist in materials handling, fabrication processes, assembly line coordination, packaging operations, and warehouse activities as needed to support overall production flow.
Monitor inventory levels of tooling, fabrication materials, and warehouse supplies; oversee warehouse organization and forklift operations
Document shift activities through detailed reports on production output, quality issues, safety incidents, and process improvements
Requirements
Proven experience supervising a machine shop or manufacturing environment with knowledge of CNC programming (milling machines and lathes)
Strong mechanical knowledge related to machining processes, fabrication techniques, and tooling management
Ability to read blueprints accurately and interpret GD&T specifications for precision manufacturing
Experience operating CNC machines with an understanding of CAM programming software; familiarity with SolidWorks is a plus
Competence in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other quality control tools
Basic math skills necessary for measurements, calculations related to machining tolerances, and process adjustments
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to promote efficiency within the team
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate team members during overnight shifts while maintaining high safety standards
Excellent communication skills to coordinate with maintenance teams, quality assurance personnel, and production staff
Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
