Position Type:Elementary School/English LearnersDate Posted:4/27/2026Location:Capital Administrative OfficeDate Available:26-27 SYClosing Date:Until FilledDistrict:Capital School DistrictDescription: Elementary MLL Teacher (English Language Learners) - Multi-Lingual TeacherLocation - to be determinedTerms of Employment: 10 Month Employee - temporary for the school year if hired after contractual start date for teachersReports to: Building Principal and Director of InstructionSalary: Current Teacher salary scheduleMinimum Qualifications:Meets certification requirements of the State of Delaware for ELL in support of multilingual learnersExperience working with multilingual studentsEssential Duties and Responsibilities:Obtain necessary WIDA test certifications and implement WIDA ELD StandardsAdminister placement tests to determine student ELL eligibilityAdminister annual ACCESS test to multilingual learners to determine growth in English Language proficiencyPlan and provide small group and Push-In instruction students in order to maximize their English proficiencyCommunicate with and provide instructional strategies to regular classroom teachers enabling them to increase the learning of EL students in the regular classroomDetermine appropriate multilingual learner accommodations for students and support classroom teachers in their application.Assist with the administration of assessment to multilingual learnersCommunicate multilingual learners progress to parents via parent conferences, IEP meetings, phone calls, etc.Work with district EL team in supporting our multilingual learners and school staffs to accomplish District EL mission and goalsPromote Capital's EL services at school and district eventsMaintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulationOther duties as directed by immediate supervisorPlans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and -in harmony with the goals-establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and communicates these objectives to students.Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with measured needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's mission statement.Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides reports as required, as well as notifying parents of student progress when necessary.Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.Performs other duties as assigned Note: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities.
