Lower School, Upper Elementary Teacher (Potential Opening)

Stone Ridge is seeking an Upper Level Elementary Teacher for our Lower School to begin work in August 2026.Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten in Bethesda, Maryland. With over 780 students, and rooted in the Goals of Sacred Heart education, Stone Ridge inspires young women to lead and serve , through lives of purpose that integrate faith, intellect, community, social action, and personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom.ResponsibilitiesAn Upper Level Elementary Teacher is responsible for teaching all academic courses in their grade level in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart education. Working closely with colleagues who teach the same grade level and across the Lower School, the Upper Level Elementary Teacher:creates and updates plans for content, curriculum quality, and continuity. actively collaborates with Learning Strategists and Educational Technologists to develop strategies to support all students. works with the Counseling staff in developing social-emotional programming rooted in Responsive Classroom. attends all faculty and employee meetings and participates in Professional Learning Communities within the Stone Ridge community. maintains good communication with families about student progress through regular progress reports and responses to parents’ inquiries.The Desired Candidatepossesses teaching experience at the elementary level and demonstrates expertise in pedagogy and instruction. familiarity and experience with teaching in the model of Reading and Writing Workshop, possessing a Bachelor’s in a relevant field. Either a master’s degree or teaching certification is preferred. demonstrates genuine affection for children, a record of successful teaching, a capacity to work with a range of learning abilities, and experience integrating appropriate educational technologies into the teaching environment.Compensation includes competitive benefits and salary commensurate with experience, with a range of $62,000 to $95,000+.Stone Ridge is looking for an educator who is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and who has experience or interest in teaching in independent, Catholic, public or charter schools.
