Join a team that has the environment down to a science.Your OpportunityStantec is seeking a motivated and dynamic Senior Architectural Historian for our Cultural Resources Team. The qualified candidate will work in close coordination with our diverse team of historians and with Senior Project Management on a range of cultural resources documentation projects.Your Key ResponsibilitiesConduct and direct background research and built environment fieldworkDevelop contextual analysesMake recommendations regarding eligibility under the National Register of Historic PlacesOversee the development of background studies, historic resources survey reports, historic context statements, and National Register eligibility evaluationsCoordinate with other staff to ensure the quality of data, fieldwork, and documentationContribute to or lead business development endeavors by preparing scope of work budgets, statements of qualifications, and presentations to clients, in collaboration with leadershipProvide management support to field teams and subcontractorsManage and mentor team membersAdditional duties may include local and National Register of Historic Places nominations, preservation plans, historic structure reports, cultural resource education materials, Historic American Buildings Survey/Historic American Engineering Record (HABS/HAER) documentation, planning and implementing of mitigation, and other types of special projectsRequires field work and out-of-town travelQualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsExcellent organization, coordination, management, and leadership skillsDemonstrated technical leadership and writing skillsStrong ability to motivate staff and promote teamwork within and across officesExcellent verbal and written communicationA valid driver's license and a good driving record are requiredRequiredEducation and ExperienceMeet, at a minimum, the Secretary of the Interior’s Qualifications Standards for history or architectural historyGraduate degree in Historic Preservation, Public History, or closely related fieldSix or more years of professional experienceKnowledge and experience working with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation ActPreferredPrevious experience conducting Section 106 report documentation and survey work for DOTs and other federal or state governmental agenciesExperience with historic resource database managementExperience working with infrastructure and transportation-related projectsProblem-solving skills, particularly in complex CRM projectsProject management experience, including a proven ability to be on time and budgetThis position works in both field and office settings.
