Query Engine Engineer

Seeking a full-time remote Query Engine Engineer focused on Apache Trino internals, the successful candidate will contribute to production-grade code, optimize query planning and execution, and enhance performance for distributed SQL workloads. Key responsibilities Contribute production-grade code to the Trino project, particularly in the planner, execution engine, or connectors Debug and optimize query planning, cost-based optimization, and distributed execution at enterprise scale Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor senior engineers through code reviews and design critiques Required qualifications 6+ years of experience in software development Strong Java skills and experience with distributed systems Working knowledge of SQL engine internals, including query planning and optimization Foundation in database internals and understanding of SQL engine execution layers Familiarity with JVM performance characteristics
